إذا ما دعاكَ الحقُّ للظلمِ مرّةً

وقد كنتَ ذا حلمٍ فلا تَكُ ذا حلمِ

When truth calls you to injustice once

Though you've been forbearing, don't remain forbearing still

فإن من الإشفاقِ إن زَاغَتِ النّهى

عن الحقِّ ميلُ المشفقينَ من الظلمِ

For from compassion, should prohibitions err

From truth, the tender-hearted's bias favours wrong
