أنا إن قلتُ أنا

عبدُ هذا السيدِ

If I say I am

a servant of this master

ولهُ الأمرُ فما

شاءَ مني يجدِ

and he holds command, so whatever

he wills of me, he finds

ويرى قتلي لأني

صرتُ من ملكِ اليدِ

and sees my murder since I

have become one ruled by his hand

كسليمانَ لهُ

حلَّ ذبحُ الهُدهُدِ

like Solomon, for whom

the hoopoe was rightfully slaughtered
