1. كوكبٌ أبدلتهُ ايديي الليالي

    من سماءِ العلى سماءَ المعالي

    A planet my nights have transformed

    From the sky of the Highest to the sky of ideals

  2. مشرقٌ بيننا نهاراً وليلاً

    منذ أمسى نهارنا كالليالي

    A bright star between us night and day

    Since our day has become like the nights

  3. هو حلمٌ وإن شهدناهُ فالغف

    لةُ نومٌ لأعينِ الجُّهَّالِ

    It is a dream though we witness it

    Sleep is oblivion to the eyes of the ignorant

  4. إنَّ قومي في الناسِ قومٌ نيامٌ

    فلذا يحلمونَ بالآمالِ

    My people are truly a sleeping folk

    Thus they dream of hopes

  5. لم نزلْ عاشقينَ للغربِ حتى

    زارنا اليومَ منهُ طيفُ الخيالِ

    We were enamored with the West until

    The specter of fantasy visited us today from it

  6. أيها الغربُ علمِ الشرقَ أنَّ ال

    علمَ لا شيءَ فيهِ صعبُ المنالِ

    O West, teach the East that

    Knowledge is nothing difficult to attain

  7. كلُّ شيءٍ يجوزُ لكنْ على قد

    رِ العقولِ اختلافنا في الحالِ

    Everything is permissible but according to

    The extent of our minds, our differing states

  8. ويحَ قومي حتى جمادُ أوروبا

    نالَ من رزقِ خيلنا والبغالِ

    Woe to my people, even the inanimate of Europe

    Got their share of our horses and mules

  9. أيهذا الترامُ أنتَ دليلُ الأ

    فْقِ في الأرضِ وشرقها والشمالِ

    O tram, you are proof of the apex

    Of skill on earth, East and North

  10. قيلَ فوقَ المريخِ ناسٌ فلما

    أنكروا جاءهم بهذا المثالِ

    It was said beyond Mars are people so when

    They denied, this came as an example

  11. قرأتْ من حديدكَ الناسُ سطراً

    إنَ قولَ الرجالِ في الأعمالِ

    From your iron people read a line

    If the words of men are in deeds

  12. ولهُ القضبُ أحرفٌ فوقها الأ

    سلاكُ شكلٌ لموضعِ الإشكالِ

    It has rods atop which are

    Wires, embodying the form of dilemma

  13. كلُّ دارٍ تدورُ فيها أراها

    غضةً ذاتَ بهجةٍ وجمالِ

    Every house revolving in which I see

    Lush, of delightful beauty

  14. فبنوها الغذا وتلكَ عروقُ ال

    جسمِ تجري بهِ إلى الأوصالِ

    They built it food and those are veins of the

    Body coursing through it to the limbs

  15. ليتَ شعري أكانتِ الأرضُ أفقاً

    سودوا وجههُ من الأهوالِ

    Would that I knew, was the earth a horizon

    They darkened its face from horrors

  16. وهو فوقَ القضبانِ بعضُ الدراري

    عكسوهُ فسارَ فوقَ الهلالِ

    While above the rods are some young ones

    They reflected it so it moved above the crescent

  17. أم هو النفسُ والخطوطُ

    خيوطُ العمرُ تمضي بها إلى الآجالِ

    Or is it the soul and the lines

    Cords of life passing through them to the appointed times

  18. فهي مهما يمدُّ فيها سواءٌ

    تنتهي من قصيرةٍ وطوالِ

    So whatever it extends in them is the same

    Ending from short and long

  19. أم هو القلبُ فوقهُ كهرباءٌ

    الوجدُ إن مسَّها جرى من خيالِ

    Or is it the heart above which is electricity

    Ecstasy, if touched, flows from fantasy

  20. طائفاً ينشدُ الذي ضلَّ منهُ

    واقفاً كلَّ لحظةٍ لسؤالِ

    Going around singing of the one who strayed from it

    Standing each instant for asking

  21. ذلكَ الجدُّ وهو عندَ رجالِ الشر

    قِ شيءٌ كلعبةِ الأطفالِ

    That seriousness which to the men of the

    East is a thing like children’s games
