O sister of the maidens of the valley, if you do not know of passion,

Have pity, o you who are unaware of love's tribulation.

I ask you for justice, if it is not forbidden,

In your faith, that you may do what's right.

Whatever you decide, I will accept,

For it is best that you show sympathy.

Can it be, o eyes of the gazelle, that I am not true?

Where is my sword, o owner of the sharp blade?

I swear by God, if not for avoiding suspicion, I would not have sworn -

The eye of she who weakens me if she looks at a rock in her lap.

My ribs bear witness that I am innocent -

Do you not see them shake if they are struck?

What is her excuse? Did they recognize her sin,

That she destroys people and is not satisfied?

Is this how the glance of an idol treats all,

And every bow of an idol so unsteady?

O sister of hers, tell her about this young man

Who moans from a love for us that makes him lean.

Promise him, for he is doomed,

And grant him a delay, or disappoint him.

She said to her: O sister this young man

Is more righteous than one who makes himself out to be chosen.

If you deny or grant him union,

It does not sway us, nor make us covetous.

And I fear for our reputation,

A rhyme like the sharpened, naked blade.

She said to her: This one whom you have hurt -

    I love the secret lover.

Love in the heart - what is the point

Of spreading it in these letters?

To me, whether they say he is miserable,

Or say he is cured, is the same.

And one like me has no equal,

Even if he were the brother of Joseph.

Tell him: you were not pleased. Then look,

And see what the poor soul will do. Then turn away.

She said to her: O sister, do not do it,

For I fear you will regret it later.

Give him what you have said, for how many songs

About you, that you have not described, have inspired him?

And how many flowers are trodden underfoot, but

For their pride, your flowers have not been plucked.

People envy us for his poetry,

And it is only for his love and devotion to you.

The birds do not chirp in the thicket,

If the dawn has risen and not called to them.

Hind laughed and said to her:

Then he will join us at the final resting place.

And all good fortune, it seems to me,

Is when a stranger returns to his home.

Beauty is oil to the youth of a young man -

If it dries from him for a moment, it is ignited.
