The sailors saw stars in the sky,
So they made them necklaces upon their chests.
They saw the light of the sun laughing at dawn,
So they wore it as faces and cheeks.
They saw it rise and set, never still,
So they made that connection and friendship.
I am pleased with women, for I have seen
They have a heart that is ever envious.
If they saw a branch laden with fruit,
They would envy that branch.
And when angry, they made the means of connection
A finger, a wrist, or a hand.
Their hearts toward jewelry are like the new moon -
To me, if it wanes, it becomes dark.
Women are creatures - if you tempt them,
They are captives, and jewelry is shackles.
