يا من أطالَ الهجرَ من بعدِ ما

مسنيَ الحبُّ بما مسني

O you who prolonged estrangement after

Love had touched me as it touched me,

أنتَ وإن أسرفتَ في ذا الجفا

أحسنُ خلقِ اللهِ في أعيني

You, even if you were excessive in this aloofness,

Are the finest of God's creations in my eyes.
