أبتْ عيناكَ إلا أن تصوبا

وهذا القلبُ إلا أن يذوبا

Your eyes refused but to aim

And this heart refused but to melt

فما لكَ تحذرُ الرقباءَ حتى

هجرتَ النومَ تحسبهُ رقيبا

So why do you fear spies until

You shunned sleep thinking it a watcher

وقامَ عليكَ ليلُكَ فيس حدادٍ

يشقُّ على مصائبكَ الجيوبا

And your night stood over you, dressed in mourning

Ripping open its robes over your misfortunes

وربَّ حمامةٍ هبتْ فناحتْ

تنازعني الصبابةَ والنحيبا

Many a dove alighted and cooed

Contesting me in youth and lament

أساعدها وتسعدني نواحاً

كلانا يا حمامةُ قد أصيبا

I empathize and she brings me joy in sorrow

Both of us, oh dove, have been stricken

دعي همَّ الحياةِ لذي فؤادٍ

فما تركَ الغرامُ لنا قلوبا

Leave the concerns of life to one with a heart

For love has left our hearts not a bit

ولا تنسي أخاكِ وما يعاني

إذا ماكانَ في الدنيا غريبا

And forget not your brother and his suffering

If he becomes a stranger in the world

فإنَّ المرءَ ينسى إن تناءى

وتذكرهُ صحابتهُ قريبا

For man forgets when far removed

And remembers him his bosom friends

رعاكِ اللهُ هل مثلي محبٌّ

وقد أمسى محمدُ لي حبيبا

May God watch over you, is there one who loves like me

And Muhammad in the eve has become my beloved

شفيعي يومَ لا يجدي شفيعٌ

وطبي يومَ لا أجدُ الطبيبا

My intercessor on a day when no intercessor avails

And my healer on a day when I find no doctor

وغوثي حينَ يخذلني نصيري

وغيثي إن غدا ربعي جديبا

And my savior when my supporter deserts me

And my rain if my plains turn arid

وآمنَ في حماهُ ريبَ دهري

وحادثهُ وإن أمسى غَضوبا

And I feel safe in His sanctuary from the misfortunes of fate

And its tribulations though they rage furious

وأذكرهُ فيفرجُ كلُّ خطبٍ

ولو كانتْ رواسيها خُطُوبا

And I remember him and all distress is relieved

However formidable the obstacles

رسولَ اللهِ جئتكَ مستغيثاً

وجودكَ ضامنٌ أن لا أخيبا

Messenger of God, I come to you seeking refuge

Your benevolence guarantees I will not be disappointed

متى تخضرُ أيامي وتزهو

ويصبحُ عودَ آمالي رطيبا

When will my days become verdant and splendid

And the rod of my hopes become moist

فقد ضاقتْ بي الدنيا وهبتْ

فجائعها على قلبي هبوبا

For the world has narrowed around me and

Hurled its calamities at my heart in gusts

ومالي غيرُ حبكَ من نصيرٍ

فعلَّ من العنايةِ لي نصيبا

And I have none but your love to support me

So destine for me from your blessing a share
