I complained of her love, so she blamed me and turned away

The two matters overcame my own in her

I remained steadfast, with no stratagem but that

I see remembrance befall me, so I yearn for remembrance

Dazzled by her eyes, I became enamored with love

And nothing enchanted me in their magic but magic itself

And I love in her the sun, the moon, and the one

Who makes lovers resemble the sun and the moon

And nothing led me on except her aloofness and her glance

For both swords were sheathed in my chest

She appeared to us in the palace one day, and has not ceased

To flap my soul after that over the palace

And she left while ignoring me, and between our hearts

Was the distance between union and separation

So I divided my heart for her and said to my reproacher

She gets her share of what you divided, and I get my share

And I spent my days wastefully, as my hand was generous

With my money in passion for her, and with my life

And when we met and she turned away indifferently

As the gazelle is wary of the clutching falcon

I gripped my heart in my hand, and the hand of passion

Tossed it between the ribs over embers

And I said to her, "Keep affection for an hour

Perhaps we will have a day in the future, though we know not"

So she said, "Is there for a poet any day but the feast day,

You have your feast day, O moon of poetry"

So I stood up, seeing my intention, and did not stop

In my reflection until dawn shone from my reflection

And I have from the fragments in its treasures

Various necklaces of prose and verse

Glory, if the people do not seize praising you

No tongue will speak praising you that flows

For you have become needless of any praiser

With your magnificent traces and splendid days

And you have bestowed upon me this poetry, as if

I picked up my precious soul from the shore of the sea

And my praise was nothing but your attributes

Which are the flowers, if my praise exudes like perfume

And indeed, every saying is cheap, even if it's dear,

For the king of a land with soil of ashes

The Nile flowed in it, mimicking your palm's Nile

And is there in existence one who equals the sea with a river?

They were deluded by it until they left it

A trustee who shows him how to spend with measure

And the Nile in Egypt is nothing but its heart's blood

If they preserve it, the soul will remain in Egypt

It overflows in the era of Abbas with what you see

Of knowledge that was from the news of Hudur

O noble son of kings, no hardship is complained of in your time

And this day was the opener of ease

The days shine through you as if they are

The lining of nights meeting the dawn

And the day you assumed the throne they inscribed

The heights of this people in the annals of pride

They saw you a youth above kings in resolve

And far is the difference between sparrows and the eagle

    With Uthman's wisdom, Haydar's awe,

Abu Hafs' justice, and Abu Bakr's decisiveness

So you remained hoped for in your prophet, congratulating

The continuance of the full moon's glory among the brilliant stars
