The dove's cooing deprived me of sleep
Did you find passion like I do?
I spend the night lamenting on the branch, chirping,
I spend the night weeping for those who are far away
My eyes still shed tears
And my ribs are still aflame
We are both passionate lovers
Insomnia took away both my sleep and yours
So coo slowly, for nothing but my liver
Melts away, O rouser of passions, my liver
I have an affection that loves beauty, and is it
Blamed for the body's love of the soul?
Charm it with repeated turning away, O softly speaking one
A melodious voice whose neck beauty has adorned
The gazelles glory in his beauty, and
The lion has been subdued by the power of his beauty
Stand at his abode and ask him
Does he fulfill the promise he makes?
And sing, if you see the places of the loved ones
Desolated after the loved ones left the country
