Wandering, she wondered

About the straightest path

فاحترت في إفهامها

كأنها من بهم

Bewildered in her comprehension

As if stunned

بعد اللتيا والتي

قالت فهمت بالفم

After much back and forth

She claimed to understand outright

فأخطأت في خبطها

كخبط عشواترتمي

Yet erred in her misstep

Like the stumbling of unsteady steps

يا ليتها ما استرشدت

وليتها لم تفهم

If only she hadn't sought guidance

If only she hadn't understood
