ما كان قولك في لوزان مقبولاً

لو لم يك السيف في الميدان مسلولا

Your words in Lausanne were not acceptable

Had the sword not been unsheathed in the battlefield

لولا الرقاب لقنا لا قراب له

ألف الفراع وإن ألفاه مفلولا

Were it not for the necks, we would not have known kinship

A thousand yards even if a thousand fold entangled

في يوم مسغبة أضحت مفككة

تلك الرقاب وأجرى تحتها النيلا

On a day of Msgbah made disjointed

Those necks and the Nile flowed beneath them

وطهر الأرض ممن بالفساد عثوا

وجاء غازيك بالصمصام مغسولا

And the land was purified of those who corrupted

And your conqueror came with a washed cleaver

آب الرسول وفي كفيه مألكة

بل هي مملكة وفي بها السولا

The Messenger's father and in his hands angels

Rather it is a kingdom and in it lords

عصمت ولا عصمة فينا لغير نبي

أستغفر اللّه فيما قلت تمثيلا

You were protected and we have no protection but a prophet

I ask Allah forgiveness for what I said figuratively

أذكرتنا يا كما لقول منزله

اليوم أكملته للناس تكميلا

You reminded us as if to say his words

Today I perfected for the people perfectly

بشراك جددت دين اللّه في زمن

لولاك اشبه توراة وإنجيلا

You renewed the religion of Allah in an era

Without you it resembles the Torah and the Bible

لولاك كان عرى الإسلام منفصما

لولاك كان عرى الإسلام مفصولا

Without you the glory of Islam would be torn

Without you the glory of Islam would be separated

أسجد لربك في البيت العتيق فقد

أفعمته اليوم تكبيرا وتهليلا

I prostrate to your Lord in the Ancient House for you

Have made it today magnifying and praising

في مهبط الوحي فاهبط يا كمال إلى

خير الأنام وردد صوت جبريلا

In the place of revelation so descend O Kamal

To the best of people and repeat the voice of Gabriel

وارفع لحضرته أمر الحسين وقل

هذا الشريف وحاشاكم كما قيلا

And raise to his presence the matter of Al-Hussein and say

This honorable one and forbid you as was said

والى العداة وأجلانا على حرم

فيث ساعة أذكرتنا البيت والفيلا

And to the enemies, we postponed on the sanctuary

Where an hour reminded us of the House and the elephants

يا حارس الدين قد جئنا بأبرهة

إليك فاستنزل الطير الأبابيلا

O guardian of the religion, we came with Abraha

To you so descend the clear birds

أبو رغال ليوم البعث نرجمه

ما الأمر والفعلة الشنعاء كالأولى

Abu Raghal for the day of resurrection we stone him

What is the matter and the hideous deed like the first

أردى بأمتك الفيحا وآلمها

ضج الحجيج ولاقى الحج تعطيلا

It weakened your nation Al-Fayha and hurt it

The pilgrims' clamor and the Hajj was disabled

تنسى الملمات إلا أزمة عرضت

للمسلمين وزادت منه تهويلا

You forget ordeals unless a crisis befell

The Muslims and increased its intimidation

شق العصا علنا في وجه دولتنا

ودنس البيت بالكفار تنكيلا

Cracking the rod in the face of our state

And desecrating the House with the infidels tyrannizing

ما كان أمره مجهولا لديك ولا

زدناك علما بمن قد زاد تضليلا

His command was not unknown to you, nor

Did we increase your knowledge of who increased misguidance

هذا سميك يا خير الأنام أتى

للحاكم العدل بالآتي أباطيلا

This is your path O best of creation he came

To the just ruler with impossibilities

مستصدرا حكمك الماضي لتجريه

وكان أمرك أمر الله مفعولا

Seeking your past rule to carry it out

And your command is Allah's command fulfilled

وقل بعثت إلى المبعوث مقتفيا

نهج الرسالة مبعوثا ومرسولا

And say, I was sent following

The path of prophethood, sent and messenged

من أمة أوفدتني للرسول وقد

وافيته بلواء النصر محمولا

From a nation that dispatched me to the Messenger and I

Reached him with the banner of victory carried

وارفع هلالا كماليا بروضته

إذ ذاك واحمله ترشيفا وتبجيلا

And raise a crescent, perfect with him

Thereupon and carry it honoring and venerating

هذي النوايا وفي المأمول يثبتها

من ذلل الصعب رغم الدهر تذليلا

These are the intentions and the hoped for proves them

He who humiliated the difficult despite the eternal humbling

فانشر صحيفتك البيضا ليتلوها

في العالمين لسان الدهر ترتيلا

So spread your white paper to recite it

In the worlds the tongue of eternity chanting it

في كل قلب بك الإحساس منبعث

لا يسند الأمر إلا لليد الطولى

In every heart awakened by you

The matter is not entrusted but to the mighty hand

من كان يصحبه التوفيق في عمل

كان النجاح له بالله مكفولا

Whoever accompanies success in deed

Success is assured to him by Allah guaranteed

بك العيون لما تبدي محدقة

فلا تريها عدا ما كان مأمولا

With you the eyes when expressing are gazing

So you do not see them unless what was hoped

يحاول الضد تحويلا عليك فلا

أراكم اللّه تغييرا وتحويلا

The opponent tries to divert you but no

May Allah show you change or diversion

قلت الخلافة حق المسلمين فما

تقضي به كان مسموعا ومقبولا

You said the caliphate is the right of Muslims, so what

You judge by is heard and accepted

فاجعل بعيشك هذا الحق في يدكم

حتى ترى الجمع في الاسلام مشمولا

So make this right in your hands exist

Until you see the group embraced in Islam

وفي انتخابك للحال دليل رضا

جميعنا فليجل ذاك تسجيلا

And in electing you now evidence of consent

Of all of us so record that

وإنما الفصل بينالسلطتين معا

قد كان حكمه في الاسلام مجهولا

And the separation of the two authorities

Its ruling in Islam was unknown

والحكم أيضا بجمهورية عجبت

منه الغلاة وقد عدوه تبديلا

And the ruling as well by republic surprised

The extremists and they counted it change

فيما تبته بات الحق منطويا

وهو الجلي وبات الفكر مشغولا

In what you sealed the truth is contained

It is the clear and the thought became busy

فاصدع بما سطر التاريخ تذكرة

واستقصه مجملا وافحصه تفصيلا

So proclaim what history has transcribed as a reminder

And investigate it summarized and examine it detailed

تجد به صورا شتى مغايرة

في الحكم فاعرضه معقولا ومنقولا

You will find in it diverse images

In the rule so present it rationally and transmitted

نوصيك بالدين ما اسطعت القيام به

إذ كنت عنه أمام الله مسؤولا

We advise you with religion for as long as you are able

To shine for it was before Allah you are accountable

ما كنت تجري به الأحكام عادلة

إليك يصبح أمر الكل موكولا

As you carried out the rulings justly

To you the matter of all would be entrusted

آباؤكم هم حماة الدين من قدم

به استعزوا ونالوا منه تفضيلا

Your fathers were the protectors of religion from the beginning

With it they were honored and obtained distinction

آثارهم وهي في القارات شاهدة

تخول الحق للأبناء تخويلا

Their traces while in the continents witnessing

Give the right to the sons delegation

هم ان يزالوا ليوثا في مرابضهم

ولن يزال عرين الأسد مأهولا

If they disappear lions in their dens

The lion's lair will never be empty

تحية من بني الخضرا لأنقرة

تحيي امرأ القيس يلقيها أكاليلا

Greetings from the Greens to Ankara

Greetings Amr al-Qais casts garlands

قد أذكرتني قوافيها بمعتصم

تحدو به نحوها الشهباء تعجيلا

Its rhymes reminded me of Mu'tasim

The celestial bodies hurry to it hastily

والشاعر الفحل يوم الفتح ينشده

السيف أصدق أنباء كما قيلا

And the eloquent poet on the day of the conquest chanting to him

The sword is more truthful news as was said

أنت الكمال الذي اعتز الهلال به

قل زادك الله إعزازا وتكميلا

You are the perfection that the crescent prided itself on

Say may Allah increase your pride and perfect you

وطدت ركنا تداعى للسقوط بما

جعلته في سبيل اللّه مبذولا

And you strengthened a pillar leaning to collapse with what

You sacrificed in the way of Allah offered

شاكي السلاح قوي العزم ثابته

لا غرو إن بات من ناواه مخذولا

Raising arms, strong in resolve steadfast

No wonder that who supported him overnight failed

بالأمس عدك في الثوار من تركوا

وحيدهم خاسر الدارين مرذولا

Yesterday they counted you among the rebels who left

Their lone one loser of the two abodes despised

لو لم يغروه يا حامي خلافته

ما كان يأمل أن يلقاك مقتولا

Had they not fooled him, O protector of his caliphate

He would not have hoped to meet you killed

أقمت بالعدل من ترضى خلافته

وبات بالعدل من ناواك معزولا

You established with justice one whose caliphate you accept

And with justice one who intrigued against you was dismissed

دم في الملمات كشافا متى انسدلت

ما دام فوقك ستر الله مسدولا

Blood in ordeals revealing whenever the darkness descends

As long as above you God's veil is unfurled

أثنت عليك الليالي وهي خاجلة

ولست فيها وأيم الله مخجولا

The nights in their deepest hours praised you

And by God I am not in them embarrassed
