وابيض وجهه للقا وتفتحت
أبوابه فأنا لذاك طروب
Its face whitening to meet
Its doors opening, I rejoice
فانظر تر الأمواج تحت ضيائه
عكنات بكر رجها المحبوب
See the waves under its glow
Green lands, beloved's stirrings
يا حسنها ويد النسيم بخصرها
لعبت وألوان المياه ضروب
Oh beautiful, wind at her waist
Playing, colors of water differ
والفجر يخطر إثر أقدام الدجى
خلسا ولم يسمع لذاك دبيب
Dawn sneaks after night’s footsteps
Silent, no rustling heard
فاغتاض منه الليل حيث أثاره
فانساب منهزما وراح يذوب
Night upset being disturbed
Flowing away, defeated, dissolving
والشمس قد نشرت بيارق نورها
وشقيقها من دوننا المحجوب
Sun spread flags of its light
Its sister veiled from us
والبحر يرمي عن هدو موجه
فوق الشطوط وللنسيم هبوب
Sea throws its waves
Over beaches, wind blowing
واصطفت الأطيار جندا فوقه
وسياجها التنظيم والترتيب
Birds lined up above it
Ranks and order
رقت لسامعها مغانيها التي
منها لتسبيح الإله خطيب
Songs soften the listener
Praising God, pleading
والنسر سار إلى العلاء كأنما
له بين سكان البروج نصيب
Eagle flew high as though
It shares sky mansions
شق الأثير وغاص فيه كأنه
في الغيم أصبح وكره المطاوب
Split sky, dived in it
As if it woke in clouds, nesting
ما زال يخفق بالشعاع جناحه
حتى كساه من الضياء مشيب
Still flapping in rays
Feathers lit with glory
يطوي الفضا ويجد فيه مسيره
حتى طواه من السحاب مغيب
Crossing space finding path
Veiled by clouds, gone
هذا الصباح شبيه فرق حبيبتي
فيلذّ فيه لفكرتي التشبيب
Morn resembles absent lover
I indulge in thoughts of her
وشعاعها الذهبي فوق جبينه
تمثال رونقها به مكتوب
Golden rays on her brow
Her beauty inscribed
وافى يشخص لي بهاء جمالها
فهويته حيث الشبيه قريب
Her beauty appears nearby
Where the resemblance is close
وصفا ورق كنفحة من عطفها
فرجعت نحو العشق وهو حبيب
Description and ease her kindness
I return to love, it’s dear
أنا خالص قد قلت إني خالص
في الحب لم تكذب علي ذنوب
I said I fully love
No lies or sins for me
على مصى في الحب ليس براجع
لكن شوقي ان مضى سيؤوب
I persist in love
Yearning if distant returns
صوت الشبيبة في فؤادي صارخ
بي حيث إني للهوى منسوب
Youth clamors in my heart
For I’m given to passion
تعص مالكة الجمال فلطفها
يدعو الفؤاد إلى الهوى فيجيب
Her charm disobeys
Heart answers passion’s call
أنا بالأنام خلقت من أجل هوى
فبه الحية تلذ لي وتطيب

فليه أوقفت القريض تغزلا

Wings shone on the veiled
أنت بمركبة الأشعة شمسه
فأتى على الليل البهيم هروب

Night fled terrified
كأنها في سيرها بعزية
تسعى لتدري النجم أين يغيب
As if a procession
Seeking where stars set
كرت على راس الجبال مغيرة
بأشعة فاجارها التأويب
It passed mountains
Rays awakened answering
متدت الأسلاك من أنوارها
فوق السهول وللشعاع لهيب
Wires of light over plains
Ray flames over them
لما بدا نور الهدى قلت انجلى
ما كنت أرجوه فلست أخيب
When the light of guidance appeared I said
What I hoped is unveiled, not vain
الشمس تغرب كل يوم إنما
وجه الحبيبة لا يسليه غروب
Sun sets but lover’s face
Sets not, eve touches it not
مرت بنظرته العيون من القذى
فكأنما في نوره التطبيب
