سل ما لقلبي تلظّى

وهو الوفي بعهدك

Ask what burns my heart

Though it is faithful to your covenant

يسبح اسمك زلفى

الى جلالة مجدك

Glorifying your name, my intimacy

To the glory of your majesty

دعاه داعي التصابي

فجاء يسعى لعندك

Called by the caller of passions

So it comes rushing to you

يود لو ذاب شوقا

لكنه دار رصدك

It would melt away in yearning

If it were not the house of your watchfulness

مسني اليك وداد

يثير كامن وجدك

Loving affection touched me to you

Stirring latent passion

حافظت دهرا عيه

على مقاساة بعدك

I guarded it an age

Against the torment of your distance

مرت علي ليال

لا ترتضيها لعبدك

Nights passed over me

You would not approve for your servant

دأبي العويل الى أن

يسرني نجم سعدك

My practice is to wail until

A star of your good fortune gladdens me

أنت المنى أنت قصدي

كما أنا جل قصدك

You are my aim, you are my goal

As I am the prime of your goals

لنا ارتباط قوي

حافظ عليه بجهدك

We have a strong bond

Preserve it with your effort

صان الإله فؤادي

لأنه بيت ودك

God protected my heart

For it is the home of your love

ألقيت فيه المراسي

لقطع دابر ضدك

I cast anchors in it

To cut the tie of your opposition

لك الولاء عليه

فلا سبيل لجحدك

Loyalty to you belongs to it

So there is no way to your ingratitude

حاشاك تنكث عهدي

أوتبتليني بصدك

Far be it you break my covenant

Or test me with your rejection

بك الحياة وإلا

فقدت نفسي لفقدك

Through you is life, else

I lose myself in losing you

أسرت قلبي لطفا

به انفردت لوحدك

You captivated my heart kindly

With that you singled out, by yourself

يديمك الله حق

نفي إليّ برعدك

May God eternally grant you

Banishment to me by your lightning
