رأيت الناس أقساما

أعاريبا وأعجاما

I saw people in groups

Arabs and non-Arabs

فقسم جامد ثاو

أمام القوم أهراما

One group is stagnant, dull

Before people, pyramids

مشى عشواء في الظلما

وفي الأغلاط قد عاما

They walked blindly in the darkness

And in mistakes they engaged

كمثل الصخر لم يفهم

ولو أصبحت علاما

Like a rock that didn't understand

Even if it became a sign

يرى الإسلام تكفيرا

يرى التفكير إسلاما

It sees Islam as blasphemy

It sees thinking as Islam

يرى الإحجام إقداما

يرى الإقدام إحجاما

It sees restraint as recklessness

It sees recklessness as restraint

فهذا لا يُرى شيئا

وإن صلى وإن صاما

So this one doesn't see anything

Even if it prays and fasts

وقسم ساكن جهلا

وليس العلم إلهاما

And a group settled in ignorance

And knowledge is not revelation

من الإذلال دنياكم

كسته اليوم هنداما

Your world made of humiliation

Is dressed today in fancy clothes

وكم قد جردت سيفا

على المسكين صمصاما

And how many times did it unsheathe swords

Against the poor and helpless

فعاش الدهر محروما

وكان الدهر ظلاما

So it lived deprived for ages

While the times were dark

غفلنا عنه تفريطا

نسينا فيه أرحاما

We neglected it out of disregard

We forgot kinship ties

سكنا دونه صرحا

وأسكناه آكاما

We settled without it in a palace

And settled it in barrens

ولو أشعرته يوما

بفضل العلم إلماما

And if we had made it aware one day

Of the virtue of knowledge and guidance

لأمسى فيه إحساس

إذا استنهضته قاما

It would have felt by night

If we had awakened it when it rose

وما الإنسان انسانا

إذا ما خاض أو هاما

And man is not human

If he did not ponder and imagine

وما الدنيا له مهد

إذا ما حركت ناما

And the world is not a cradle for him

If you did not make him rise when he slept

وقسم قلبه دام

وكان الفقر إلجاما

And a group whose heart is bleeding

And poverty was a bridle

وظيف سامه ذلا

وما أدراك ما ساما

Employed though in humiliation

And how would you know what it endured

يذوق الذل ألوانا

ويستجديك إطعاما

It tastes various shades of humiliation

And begs you for food

يرى في رزقه بابا

ويخشى فيه حكاما

It sees the sustenance like a door

And fears rulers regarding it

وباري الخلق رزاق

رعاك الله قساما

Yet the Creator of people is the Provider

May God support you as supporter

وكم للّه أبواب

أعدت منه إنعاما

And God has many doors

That I have prepared to bestow favors

فما للعبد مقناطا

وما للعبد مسئاما

So the servant has no scissors

Nor does the servant have a fault

يرى الحكام آسادا

يرى الديوان آجاما

It sees rulers as lions

It sees the system as ogresses

درى أحوالها لكن

يراعي الحكم كتاما

It knows their conditions but

It respects the rule out of concealment

صبورا لابثا دهرا

يغطي الزهر أكماما

Patient, living an age

Flowers covering its sleeves

رؤوس الشهر أعياد

له يرعاه أياما

The new moons are holidays

Reserved days for it

فكان العضو معتلا

يزيد الناس آلاما

Thus the member was crippled

Increasing people's pain

وقسم حاكم طاغ

يسوق الناس أنعاما

And a group of oppressive rulers

Driving people like cattle

أناني بلا ريب

يرى الأحرار أخصاما

Selfish, without a doubt

It sees the free as opponents

ذئاب في مراعينا

رأت في الحي أغناما

Wolves in our pastures

Saw sheep in the neighborhood

دعوناهم لدستور

فكانوا فيه أصناما

We called them for a constitution

But they became idols in it

وقالوا كم منحناكم

من الخيرات أنعاما

And they said, how much have we given you

Of goods and cattle

وهذا مطلب منكم

مشط زاد إجراما

And this is a demand from you

A comb that increased crime

وإنا بيننا عهد

نشرنا فيه أعلاما

And we have a covenant between us

In which we raised flags

نقيّض فيه ما قلتم

ولم نلحقه إتماما

We repeal in it what you have said

And did not complete it

فقلنا القول مردود

وليس الحق إكراما

So we said the word is rejected

And truth is not a favor

جرى القانون تاريخا

فأجروا فيه إيهاما

The law flowed as history

So they flowed in it illusions

وزدنا فيه غيضاحا

فزادوا فيه إبهاما

And we increased clarity in it

So they increased ambiguity in it

وقالوا هكذا نحيا

أعاريبا وأرواما

And they said, this is how we live

Arabs and Tatars

فقلنا الحق سوانا

سنشفي منه أسقاما

So we said, truth makes us equal

We will heal its diseases from it

وأنا قد فتحناها

بكف العدل أختاما

And we have opened it

With the palm of justice, its seals

وقسم خائن يمشي

وراء الناس نمّاما

And a group of traitors walking

Behind people, blaming

فلا جنسا ولا دينا

يداجي الكل نهاما

No ethnicity or religion

Cajoling everyone insistently

يبيع الدين بالدنيا

ولا دامت ولا داما

It sells religion for the world

As long as it lasted and lasted

هي النقدان أنصابا

يراعيها وأزلاما

They are deux golden calves

It herds them and their dependents

إذا ما قيل دينار

على وجه الثرى هاما

If a gold coin is said

It crawls on the ground

وفي الأعراض إعراض

له يكفي بذا ذاما

And it is indifferent to honors

It suffices it to blame them

وقسم خائف يدري

غدا في الناس حلّاما

And a group of scared ones knowing

Tomorrow among people, a juggler

يرى الأحكام أغلالا

يرى الشرطي ضرغاما

It sees rulings as shackles

It sees the policeman as brutal

كزنبور بلا شهد

وخمر لم تجد جاما

Like a bee without honey

And wine without a cup

غدوا في القول أرواحا

وفي الأعمال أجساما

Tomorrow in words, souls

And in deeds, bodies

فقل أجدى الورى نفعا

لهم من كان مقداما

So say, who benefits

Those who dared?

وقسم ساخر يهذي

يزيد القلب إضراما

And a group of mockers raving

Increasing the heart's inflammation

يعيب الناس نقّادا

على الأفكار هجاما

It criticizes people as critics

Assaulting thoughts

إذا استبحثته عادي

إذا استنصحته لاما

If you consult with it normally

If you seek its advice, it blames

إذا استدنيته يعدو

وراء النأي إفصاما

If you get close to it, it flees

Behind remoteness, speechless

نراه ناظرا شزرا

على الأعمال بساما

We see it watching stealthily

At deeds loftily

يرانا دونه فكرا

وحيدا بات فهاما

It sees us below it in thought

Alone, understanding

فعاش الدهر ممقوتا

حسودا في الهوى عاما

So it lived despised

Envious in love, in public

وقسم عارف حيّ

يرى الإذلال إعداما

And a group of mystics alive

Who see humiliation as death

بصيرا إن مشى يمشي

وراء الفكر عزاما

Insightful, if it walks, it walks

Behind thought resolutely

يقيم الليل يقظانا

يخوض البحر عواما

It stands up at night vigilant

It sails the sea swimming

وفي الأحوال منطاد

على أسرارها حاما

And in conditions a flyer

Flying over its secrets

وفي الأيام منظار

يراها العام فالعاما

And in days a telescope

It sees years, so years

وفي الديجور طلاع الث

نايا بات قواما

And in planets, clues

That spent the night rising

يرى الأشياء تفصيلا

ويذكي الفكر نجاما

It sees things in detail

And it ignites thought precisely

خبير بالدنا حقا

يرى للدهر أحكاما

Experienced in the universe, truly

It sees rules for fate

إذا تقضي بشيء ما

غدا المقضي إلزاما

If it rules something

The ruled becomes mandatory

ولاح قام مخزيا

جنونا رام ما راما

It shone standing, humiliating

Madness that envisaged what it envisaged

يقول القوم ما زالوا

صغارا ليته صاما

People say they still

Remain small, if only it fasted

فقل هب عندنا فرد

ولسنا الحق أقواما

So say, we have an individual

And we are not truth, groups

فضعه بين أصفار

تر الأصفار أرقاما

Put him between zeros

You see the zeros, numerals

بني الخضراء إخواني

بني الدستور ارغاما

O brothers in green

O brothers in constitution, obliged

أبينوا أنكم أهل

ولا تبقون أقساما

Show that you are worthy

And do not remain in groups

فحيوا فيه أستاذا

وحيوا فيه حاخاما

So welcome in it a professor

And welcome in it a rabbi

ومدوا للإخا أيدي

كمو هودوا وإسلاما

And extend to the brother hands

Like you were Jews or Muslims

وقوفا في مصلاكم

إذا كبرت إحراما

Standing in your mosques

When you pronounced God is Great

أنا ما بينكم صوت

بكم أصبحت نظاما

I am a voice between you

With you I became a system

نشيدا بينكم هذا

تغنوا فيه أنغاما

This anthem between you

Sing it melodies

بألحان شجيات

تزيد القلب إضراما

With passionate tunes

Increasing the heart's inflammation

وقولو نحن أحرار

نشرنا اليوم أعلاما

And say we are free

Today we raised flags

وهذا الصوت دستوري

فتحنا عنه أفماما

And this is a constitutional voice

We have opened our mouths wide about it

رفعناه كنيران

على الأعلام أعلاما

We raised it like fires

Above flags, flags

كتبنا ما كتبناه

بإحساس كتبنا ما

We wrote what we wrote

With feeling, we wrote what

وفي الإحساس أسلاك

جرت في الناس أقلاما

And in feeling, wires

That pens flowed in people

دعونا للإخا فاعلم

أعاريبا وأعجاما

I call on you, brother, know

Arabs and non-Arabs
