  2. تخيّلت قرنك أعزل حتى

    تراميت ويحك رمي الضرير

    I imagined your horn as helpless,

    Until you extended yourself, and woe to you, the shooting of the blind!

  3. رميت عصاك ولست بموسى

    ولست السميع ولست البصر

    You threw your stick yet you are no Moses,

    You are not the All-Hearing, nor the All-Seeing.

  4. وبحري عميق وأنت الغريق

    ولم تنفلق بعصاك البحور

    My sea is deep, and you are the drowning one,

    Your stick did not part the seas.

  5. ولو كنت أدري عقوقك قبلا

    لما كنت أغرس فيك الشعور

    Had I known your disobedience before,

    I would not have planted feelings in you.

  6. وهب عندك الريش كالطير لكن

    كمثل الدجاجة لست تطير

    You have feathers like birds, but

    You are no more than a chicken, you do not fly.
