للّه كل يرجع

فتصبروا واسترجعوا

To Allah all return

So be patient and take back

واستسلموا لقضائه

فقضاؤه لا يدفع

And surrender to His decree

For His decree cannot be averted

دنياك ظل زائل

متنقل متقشع

Your world is a fleeting shadow

Moving, dissipating

ندري حقائقها ونح

ن يظلها نتمتع

We know its realities and we live

Enjoying its shade

ما دامت الدنيا إلى

أحد ولا هي تنفع

As long as the world lasts for someone

And is of no benefit to him

عش في السلامة ما تشا

فبها يكون المصرع

Live safely as long as you live

For with it comes death

انظر لمن سبقوا وقل

فيم ابن آدم يطمع

Look to those who preceded

So what can man covet?

في الأرض مالك يا فتى

إلا الثلاث الأذرع

In the world you have no possession, o youth

Except for the three cubits

عجبا لمهتم بها

علم المآل ويخدع

Strange is one preoccupied with it

Knowing the outcome yet fooled

من ذا الذي لم يدر أن

نَ الموت إثره يتبع

Who does not know that

Death follows in his wake?

خير الأنام من الذي

للقاء ربه يسرع

The best of people is he who

Hastens to meet his Lord

كخديجة هذي التي

فيها الشباب مضيع

Like Khadija who in her

Youth was squandered

دون الثلاثين اختفى

فيها الصبا المتفجع

Before thirty her youth

Vanished, anguished

نبكي الفقيد شبابها

ولأجله نتوجع

We mourn the loss of her youth

And for it we ache

هي حامل وجنتيها

في أمه يتشفع

She carries him, and her two gardens

Intercede through her

هو زهرة في كمها

ذبلت وكادت تطلع

He is a flower in her lap

Withered, about to bloom

هو رحمة في بطنها

اتصسلت بها لا تقطع

He is a womb's mercy

Connected to her, unsevered

وأنيسها في رمسها

تحنو عليه الأضلع

And her companion in her cradle

The ribs fawn over him

قل لا فصال ولا هي الن

فسا ولا هو مرضع

Say no parting, neither soul

Nor suckling babe

تأتي به فرق اليدي

ن لربها تتخضع

She will come with palms outstretched

To her Lord submitting

فيقول يا رباه إن

ي عند عرشك أركع

And He will say: O Nurturer

I bow before Your Throne

أنا بعضها والبعض في

بعض أتى يتشفع

I am part of her, and part

Comes interceding for part

لم أعص أمرك بالحيا

ة فما بمثلي يصنع

I did not disobey Your command in life

None can do as I have done

وحجبتني فيها فما

لي غير أمي مربع

You veiled me in it, so I have

None but my mother sheltering

ما لي كساء دونها

فأنا بها متلفّع

I have no garb but her

So in her am I wrapped

بالزوج والأبوين بر

رّت والمبرّة تنفع

With husband and parents she was dutiful

And the dutiful are benefited

تركت لهم ذكرى ببن

تيها وذكرا يسمع

She left them a memory in her daughter

And a remembrance heard

قل رحمة اله على

خدوجة لا تقلع

Say God's mercy on

Khadija never ceases

نسل الملوك بني الحُسي

نِ وبيت عدن أرفع

The seed of kings, Bani Al-Hussein

And the house of Aden most noble

وكريمة المأمون واس

مه للتفاؤل مطلع

And the generous Al-Ma'mun and his name

A harbinger of good fortune

وأبو الثناء الخزندا

ر حليلها المتصدع

And Abu Al-Thana' Al-Khazzandar her husband

Whose column fell cracked

غالت حليلته المنو

ون ولم تكن تتوقع

His beloved wife passed away

When she least expected

واغتال أخرى إثرها

ريب المنون المنزع

And another followed her

The touch of death undone

لحقت بها في حينها

جزعا كذا من يجزع

She joined her suddenly

One grieving as I grieve

ما كان بين الموتتي

نِ سوى دقائق تجمع

Naught was between the two deaths

Except fleeting moments

سهم أصابهما وفي

كلتيهما له منزع

An arrow struck them both

And in both had its effect

كانت وفاتهما كنو

ر الكهرباءة يقطع

Their deaths were like

The flickering of electricity severed

عينان غمضتا معا

ومن الذي لا يهجع

Two eyes closed together

And who does not lament?

شق المصاب على الشقي

قِ وكيف لا يتروع

The tragedy cut deeply for the bereaved one

How could he not shudder?

هي أم تربية له

في القلب منها موضع

She raised him like a mother

In his heart she has a place

فاضت لزوجته أسى

وكذا السى المتفرع

For his wife her death brought anguish

As with those who grieve

قل هكذا إخلاص من

بحياته يتبرع

Say this is the loyalty of one

Who with his life is generous

أين السموأل في الوفا

ءِ وأين تلك الأدرعُ

Where is steadfastness in loyalty?

And where are those suits of armor?

هذا الوفاء بعينه

ما بالوفاة تصنع

This loyalty itself

Does not come with death

لم يجزها عن صدقها

إلا الأله المبدع

Only the Creator separated her

From her sincerity

فالفضل من ملكوته

أسمى لديه وأوسع

So favor is from His Kingship

Supreme with Him and Abundant

هذا وبشرى للتي

منها الثرا متضوع

This, and glad tidings for she

From whom comes fragrant scent

أعني الفقيدة هذه

من طاب منها المضجع

I mean this deceased girl

Of pure repose

كانت مثال الطهر لا

ركنا تراه يضعضع

She was the epitome of chastity

No corruption could shake her

حسب الفتاة نزاهة

نورٌ عليها يسطع

Her integrity was a light

Radiant upon her

فضريحها لصيانة

ولعفّة مستودَع

So her tomb is for safekeeping

And virtue a repository

لبّت مسا الإثنين دا

عيها وسال المدمع

She spent Monday and Tuesday

Calling them, tears flowing

ظعنت ومن ذي القعدة ال

باقي ليال أربع

And in Dhu Al-Qi'dah the rest

Of nights, four

وبجاه أحمد سوف تر

فُل في النعيم وترتع

And by Ahmad's status she will

Be exalted in bliss and drink

إذ جاء في تاريخها

طه الأمين مشفّع

For in her chronology came

Pure Taha interceding
