يا حائزا قصب سبق

ما بين أهل الفتوه

O you who excelled in glory

Among the youth of valor

بعثت لي طرس ود

يدلني عن أخوه

You sent me a missive of affection

To guide me to your brother

أكرم بمثلك خلا

لم أرج إلا دنوه

Bestow favor, as is your habit

On one who hopes for closeness

قدود جدك جدي

فاسلك سبيل المروه

Your grandfather and mine were allies

So walk the path of manliness

ولنحفظ العهد كيما

نرعى حقوق الأبوه

Let us keep our pact so that

We observe the rights of kinship

ولنترك الود إرثا

مسترسلا في البنوه

And leave affection as inheritance

Flowing freely through progeny

أنت العلي كبدر

في الأفق تسمو سموه

You are most high like the full moon

Rising loftily in the horizon

يرقى بجديك أصل

لمي عل أصل علوه

Exalting your origin through your ancestors

Of elevated and lofty origin

هذا وزير وهذا

قاض نميت نموه

This one is a minister and that

A judge, grown in stature

أكرم بعاشور بيتا

قد أمطر الله جوه

Bestow favor on the Abashours' house

That God has watered its atmosphere

ماذا يقوله مثلي

في مثل بيت النبوه

What can one like me say

About the house of prophecy

لكن أقول اقتباسا

خذ الكتاب بقوّه

But I say in emulation

Take the book with strength

لو كان بعضي عدوّا

اليك كنت عدوّه

If I were in enmity towards you

I would be its enemy
