أقلع بقشّك أيها الأسطول

إن التي هاجمت إسلامبول

Hoist your sails, O fleet,

The one who attacked Istanbul

أتهاجم الآساد في آجامها

وعرينها بليوثه مأهول

Does she attack lions in their dens?

Her lair is filled with ferocious beasts

ابحرت نحو الدردنيل لفتحه

فرأيت أن الدردنيل مهول

She sailed towards the Dardanelles to open it

But found the Dardanelles formidable

لا تحسب الغارات جولة سائح

فاطرح حسابك نه ترميل

Do not think raids are tourist trips

So discard your calculations, it is nonsense

يتفاخرون جهالة بعديدهم

فليكثروا إن الكرام قليل

They boast ignorantly of their numbers

Let them increase, for the noble are few

فتحيروا ومن المحال إيابهم

وتوقّفوا ومن المحال دخول

They wandered confused, impossible for them to return

They stopped, impossible for them to enter

تلقاءهم ما لم يكن بحسابهم

وأمامهم مستقبل مجهول

Towards them what was not in their calculations

And ahead of them an unknown future

شاهدتموها والسماء تلبّدت

ورأيتمو كيف الجبال تزول

You saw it as the sky clouded over

And you saw how mountains disappear

هذا وان اللّه يعلم وحده

أيان مرساها وكيف تؤول

And God alone knows

When their anchorage will be and how things will turn out

كل يؤمل من وراها حظوة

والغيب عنده ذلك المأمول

Each hopes for good fortune from behind them

But the unseen is that which is hoped for

فمتى تحط عن الورى أوزارها

ما العيش إلا الحلم والتأويل

When will she unload the burdens of the world?

Life is but a dream and interpretation

نقضي الحياة على تنازعنا البقا

والكل عنه في غد مسؤول

We spend life disputing survival

And tomorrow all will be held accountable

ما الحق يعرف يومها دون امترا

ويطابق المنقول والمعقول

Truth will not be known except through ordeal

And the transmitted will match the rational

ويصاخ بالإذعان للأمر الذي

قد قاله للأنبيا التنزيل

And it will cry out in surrender to the command

That revelation told the prophets

فدع ابن دنيا الان في غفلاته

حتى يفيق لأنه مثمول

So leave the son of the world for now in his heedlessness

Until he awakens, for he is accountable
