1. أبى اللّه إلا أن تعظم مطلقا

    لك الفخر مسجونا لك الفخر مطلقا

    God willed that you always be great

    Glory is yours, whether free or imprisoned

  2. كتبت على النفس الكريمة غمرة

    تحوم بها حول الخطوب محلقا

    Fate has written on your noble soul storms

    That hover around calamities taking flight

  3. تبيت مع الإحساس همتك التي

    تنادي لمن ناواك هيا على اللقا

    Your aspirations that spend nights with feelings

    Call out to those who comforted you: Onwards to meet!

  4. وما هي إلا نخوة هاشمية

    وكل الذي في الهاشمية منتقى

    It is but Hashimite chivalry

    And all that is in Hashimites is carefully chosen

  5. وكم لك فينا من مواقف أثبتت

    لك الفضل أيا ما تقحمت مأزقا

    You have done so much for us that proved

    Your merit wherever you plunged into straits

  6. ومن طلب الإصلاح لم يأت منكرا

    ومن طلب الإنصاف لم يخش مزلقا

    Whoever sought reform did not come to deny

    Whoever sought justice did not fear missteps

  7. تكبدت في الدستور كل مشقة

    وقد كان في الخضراء بابه مغلقا

    You took on every hardship in the constitution

    Though its door in the capital was shut closed

  8. ركبت له البحر الخضم تشقه

    بعزمة حر ليس يعرف ما الشقا

    You rode the tumultuous sea cleaving it

    With the resolve of a free man who knows no fatigue

  9. وأدليت بين القوم بالحجج التي

    تجلى بها صبح الحقيقة مشرقا

    You presented cogent arguments that

    Revealed the dawn of truth shining bright

  10. وأوضحت ما غشته سحب مظالم

    ولولاك بات السيل للفلك مغرقا

    You made clear what injustices had clouded

    Were it not for you, the flood would have drowned everything

  11. وخاطبتهم في الظلم والحق بين

    إلى أن رأيت الظلم للرأس مطرقا

    You addressed them about injustice and truth between

    Until you saw injustice bow its head low

  12. وأوجدت أنصارا لحزبك بينهم

    أبوا أن يروا فردا من الشعب مرهقا

    You created supporters for your party among them

    Who refused to see any people exhausted

  13. وألفت ما ألّفت بين قلوبهم

    وألّفت ما ألفت سفرا مرونقا

    You brought together what you did of their hearts

    You composed what you did of a graceful chapter

  14. وأظهرت باعا في السياسة طائلا

    وأظهرت مذ أبحرت فيها تعمقا

    You showed extraordinary skill in politics

    You showed, since delving into it, profound wisdom

  15. رأيناك طورا في المشاكل راسبا

    وطورا على أسوارها متسلقا

    We saw you sometimes failing in problems

    And sometimes climbing over its walls

  16. وطالبت أرباب المساواة والإخا

    بإجرائها للعدل حتى تصدقا

    You called on those who believe in equality and brotherhood

    To implement justice until they are proven sincere

  17. وأشهدت حزب الاشتراكية الذي

    تركته يستبكي العدالة مشفقا

    You witnessed the Socialist party that

    You left crying for justice anguished

  18. وقدمتها بعد التحري مطالبا

    ثمانية اثبتهن مدققا

    You presented it, after investigation, eight demands

    That you verified as a meticulous critic

  19. وجابهت أولي الحل والعقد منهمو

    وبينكما كم أثخن الدهر موبقا

    You confronted the decision makers among them

    And between you so much disgrace did obscure

  20. وحاضرت في الخضراء باريس أهلها

    وكنت بنا فيها خبيرا محققا

    You were present in the French national assembly

    And you were among its people an expert of utmost credibility

  21. وما كان في الإصلاح أقواك حجّة

    وما كان في الإفصاح أحلاك منطقا

    No argument for reform was stronger than yours

    No expression was sweeter than your logic

  22. علوت منصّات الخطابة بينهم

    فكنت خطيبا في المجامع مسلقا

    You ascended platforms of oratory among them

    And were in gatherings an eloquent speaker

  23. وأطلقت من ذاك اللسان عنانه

    وإن كان بالسحر البياني مطوقا

    You unleashed your tongue and let it go

    Even if with magical rhetoric it was confined

  24. جرى بك سيال الصحافة دافقا

    وغرب في طول البلاد واشرقا

    The torrent of journalism flowed profusely about you

    Coursing far and wide across the country

  25. وقمت بأعباء السفارة مفردا

    إلى أن بدا عقد الوفود منسقا

    You took on alone the burdens of ambassadorship

    Until the convoys of delegations were organized

  26. قضوا ما قضوا والكل باسمك لاهج

    يراك سبيلا في المهم ومرتقى

    However much they try, all speak your name

    Seeing you as the way on important and lofty matters

  27. وأحمدهم قد كان أحمدهم الى

    جنابك غذ رعى السجل المعلقا

    And the best of them, their best

    Was in your presence, when he looked after the exalted constitution

  28. كذا فليكن رب الزعامة نائبا

    لعمرك ما احراك فينا واخلقا

    So let the leader of the nation be your deputy

    For you have never in our eyes been faithless

  29. فيا له صدرا في ذهابك واسعا

    ويا له سجنا في إيابك ضيّقا

    May God assist you, Abu Al-Ma’ali

    Whenever you trusted firmly in God

  30. تحمّلتها أمنية الشعب كله

    مغلغلة تغلي بها متدفّقا

    May God aid you, Abdelaziz Al-Thaalibi

    With His grace wherever you looked

  31. تعشقتها حرية عرفت بكم

    لدينا ولم تبرح لها منعشقا

    May God support you, Abdelaziz, and make you successful

    May God enable you, Abdelaziz, and grant you success

  32. غرست الشعور الحي في الأنفس التي

    رأيت بها غصن الفضائل مورقا

    You built from the heights a towering palace

    Reminding us of Al-Nu’man building Khawarnaq

  33. ومثلك من يرقى المعالي بهمة

    ومثلك من يبدي اليها التشوقا

    You shed yourself for the Capital to raise its stature

    And gather what of our affairs was fragmented

  34. لك الله يا خلي الوفي معاضدا

    ومنتصرا ما كنت بالله موثقا

    And you stood with the free for the cause of truth

    And for the despised falsehood, annihilating it

  35. لك الله يا عبد العزيز الثعالبي

    بألطافه أيان ما كنت محدقا

    You infused sincerity into heart and conscience

    And sailed with hopes alone composing harmony

  36. لك الله يا عبد العزيز مؤيدا

    لك الله يا عبد العزيز موفقا

    Neither fatigue becoming cumbersome, nor fear obstructing

    Neither determination withering, nor calamities continuing

  37. بنيت من العلاء صرحا ممردا

    فأذكرتنا النعمان يبني الخورنقا

    You were an example of steadfastness, and maybe

    An individual can resist regiments with heroism

  38. تجردت للخضراء ترفع شأنها

    وتجمع من أشتاتنا ما تفرقا

    The Nile Valley gained mention when Saad stood up

    But in Saad we saw over you no precedence

  39. وقمت مع الأحرار للحق داعيا

    وللباطل الممقوت بالحق مزهقا

    Except he being in Egypt and you in Tunisia

    And had you been there, you would have been for its people a refuge

  40. وأفعمت بالإخلاص قلبا وقالبا

    وأبحرت بالآمال وحدك موسقا

    A breeze of feeling blew in every nation

    So that when lightning flashed, it illuminated

  41. فلا السهد مشكو ولا الخوف حائل

    ولا العزم منبت ولا الخطب متقى

    No people remained that did not demand their rights

    And no ruler in the kingdoms remained absolute

  42. وكنت مثالا للثبات وربما

    يقاوم فرد بالبسالة فيلقا

    We struck with arrows the nations, and we all

    Fell behind in the ethics of resolute people

  43. جرى ذكر وادي النيل مذ قام سعده

    فلم نر في سعد عليك تفوقا

    We struck the key of judiciary independence

    So the face of hope shone radiant

  44. سوى هو في مصر وأنت بتونس

    ولو كنت فيها كنت للشعب معتقا

    And your release, exonerated, interceded

    So the rulers will not be able, try as they might

  45. سرت نسمة الإحساس في كل أمة

    فحيعل على الأنوا اذا البرق أبرقا

    You came out innocent, tainted by no blemish

    Neither asking favor nor flattering

  46. فلم يبق شعب لم يطالب بحقّه

    ولم يبق حكم في الممالك مطلقا

    We found in you, O noble people, what we knew of you

    And we found in you, O free and truthful man

  47. ضربنا بسهم في الشعوب وكلنا

    بأخلاق أهل الحزم منهم تخلفا

    You witnessed the reception - nothing like it -

    And nothing in your life was more beautiful

  48. ضربنا على فصل القضاء بنغمة

    فبات بها وجه الرجا متألقا

    You saw crowds thronging in succession

    Fulfilling a duty with obligations joined

  49. وشفع بالافراج عنك مبرءا

    فلن يستطيع ساس الأمور وطبقا

    You saw no one forgotten, and none superior

    None herded, none ahead

  50. خرجت بريئا لم تسم بنقيصة

    ولا سائلا فضلا ولا متملّقا

    Passion stirs them for the Sacred House

    To which hopes make accepted pilgrimage

  51. وجدت بنا القوم الكرام وإننا

    وجدنا بك الحر الكريم المصدقا

    You saw among them in oratory a stirring of strength

    And you saw among them in poetry a cleaving of beauty

  52. شهدت من الإقبال إذ ذاك مشهدا

    ولا شيء في دنياك منه بأروقا

    O what a day - etiquette restrained them -

    Else they would have said the full moon rose radiant

  53. رأيت جموعا زمرة اثر زمرة

    يؤدون حقا بالفرائض ملحقا

    You rose with us - so rise - we glorify you standing

    And write in history a line finely crafted

  54. فلم تر مفضولا ولم تر فاضلا

    ولم تر مبسوقا ولم تر اسبقا

    And place on you a crown made of my anthem

    And a cup with gratitude etched

  55. يهزهم الإحساس للكعبة التي

    تحج لها الآمال حجا موفقا

    I picked it from the gardens of my poetry, a bouquet

    Where the blossoms in its sleeves burst with joy

  56. وشاهدت منهم في الخطابة مصقعا

    وشاهدت منهم في القصائد مفلقا

    And in generosity you give generosity to one

    Whose neck we see bound in necklaces of generosity

  57. ويا له يوما والتأدب صدهم

    وغلا لقالوا أشرق البدر أشرقا

    No banquet was held were it not for your sake

    The best of which was the gathering of friends

  58. نهضت بنا فانهض نمجدك قائما

    ونكتب من التاريخ سطرا منمقا

    Of deeds came to him, immortalized in the eternal record

    Nurtured on the sincerity of his father who

  59. ودونك تاجا من نشيدي مكلّلا

    ودونك كاسا بالثناء معتّقا

    Spent his life upholding his religion generously

    And this Ahmadi leader in creed

  60. قطفته من جنّات شعري باقة

    ترى الزهر في أكمامها متفتقا

    The purest hearted of mankind and most generous in encounter

    And this brother of yours, Sheikh Salah, who

  61. وفي كرم تعطى المكارم للذي

    نرى جيده بالمكرمات مطوقا

    In what righteous deeds he has, gives in charity

    And this son of Ibrahim, like you virtuous

  62. أقيمت ولا من لاجلك حفلة

    وأجمل ما فيها اجتماع لأصدقا

    And in virtue the branch was attached to the origin

    And this the straight and right path - his path

  63. فهذا علي بين أظهرنا وما

    أتاه من الأعمال سجله البقا

    And our truthful friend true in word and deed

    And this colleague, Mustafa, among a group

  64. تغذّى بإخلاص من الوالد الذي

    قضى العمر في إعزاز دينه منفقا

    Who, when called on for gems, are most generous

    And Salah Farhat - suffice it that he

  65. وهذا الرئيس الأحمدي عقيدة

    واصفى الورى قلبا وأكرمهم لقا

    Is my colleague, though the Arabs reject this reasoning

    And our fortress filled with zeal - his heart

  66. وهذا أخوك الشيخ صالحنا الذي

    بما عنده في الصالحات تصدقا

    For the beloved nation, with faith and piety

    So thanks to your caller, virtuous Tahar

  67. وهذا ابن ابراهيم مثلك فاضل

    وفي الفضل كان الفرع بالأصل ملحقا

    Though I am, my teacher, more deserving of thanks

    And may the Capital live on, and its Prince live on

  68. وهذا الصواب المستقيم صراطه

    وصادقنا الصديق قولا محققا

    And may the Supreme live on, and may his remaining live on

  69. وهذا الزميل مصطفى بين معشر

    إذا استمطروه بالنفائس أغدقا

  70. وصالح فرحات وحسبك انه

    زميلي ولكن خالف العرب منطقا

  71. ومحرزنا الملآن قلبه غيرة

    على الوطن المحبوب دينا مع التقى

  72. فشكرا إلى داعيك طاهر آغة

    وان كنت يا استاذ بالشكر أليقا

  73. ودامت لنا الخضراء ودام أميرها

    ودامت له العليا ودام له البقا
