Behold the gazelle on the Mount of Manar
Bewitching minds, swaying gently and coquettishly
It has a tenderness in hearts for its arrows
And for you, the heart of an admirer is an example
See how I saw in it beauty
Allurement that adorns beauty with beauty
I sheltered it in my heart, and it was like a temple
So why do the eyelids cast it away like blades?
I humbled myself before it and I wanted to resist it
And love makes its lord humbling
For me in passion there is the chastity of excuses
If not for virtue, I would have sought union from it
O heart tormented by love
If people say, ask it for peace, say no, no
I recited poetry about it like Ibn Mulawwah
For I do not exaggerate its beauty
By God, what a mouth of well-arranged pearls
Between its fine hair that hangs down
It captivates minds with its glances, so when it moos
Those passionate about it bow down in veneration
Between me and it there was a long standstill in my youth
And I did not gain what I longed for from it
I tried to return my soul from it
But I went back in the most miserable state
My heart fell into its hands empty
And strangely I saw it risen above the fall
My heart turns in its hands as if it were
A piece of pottery toyed with by children
The pain of my passion grows intense
Only because of my misfortune, I did not seek veneration
