1. بباتنة رعد البشائر لعلعا

    فأطرب (أوراسا) بها (والشلعلعا)

    With glad tidings Rumblings of thunder heralded

    Arousing delight in Aures and the mountains

  2. وجادت غيوث البر كل رحابها

    فجادت وعادت للمبرات مرتعا

    The rains poured down blessing the land

    Watering the meadows abundantly

  3. وأخصبت الآمال فيها وأينعت

    كما أخصب الروض الجديب وأينعا

    Hopes grew fertile and bore fruit

    As a blossoming oasis laden with yield

  4. فلا غرو أن تزهى بعهد مبارك

    لها وتهز الرأس فيه وترفعا

    No wonder she glows in a blessed era

    Nodding her head proudly raising it high

  5. بمدرسة دينية عربية

    أعدت لإرواء المدارك منبعا

    With a religious Arabic school

    To nourish keen minds a fresh spring

  6. نمت ونمى النشئ الصغير على الهدى

    بها ووعى فيها من العلم ما وعى

    The little ones grew guided true

    Learning with joy all they were taught

  7. وشبت فأمست للشباب كقلعة

    محصنة فيها الشباب تمنعا

    And the youth like a fortress were raised

    Sheltering them safe from mishaps ahead

  8. الى جامع لاذ الهداة بظله

    وفاؤوا اليه قانتين وخشعا

    To the mosque they dutifully flocked

    Bowing devout with utmost humility

  9. وناد بديع لو ينادى شبابه

    الى المثل العليا للبى وأسرعا

    And the brilliant preacher called the youth

    To the highest ideals swiftly to run

  10. وجو عجيب ينثر الثلج ناصعا

    كذوب لجين أو يرى منه أنصعا

    In a charming climate snowflakes danced

    Like virgin pearls or brighter to see

  11. وشمس خلال السحب تبدو وتختفي

    حياء ويرجوها النبات لتسطعا

    The sun peeping through clouds now hides

    As the crops hope she would shine more to be

  12. ودور لإكرام الضيوف تفتحت

    وشعب الى صوت (البشير) تطلعا

    Homes for guests unfold welcoming all

    And people anticipating the envoy climb

  13. فأهلا وسهلا بالبشير متوجا

    بتاج تحلى بالنهى وترصعا

    Greetings to the Herald crowned lofty

    With the halo of integrity gleaming proud

  14. إمارة عرفان يسوس أمورها

    أمير على دست البيان تربعا

    A prince rules with eloquence supreme

    His people embracing Arabism follow

  15. يواليه شعب للعروبة ينتمي

    ويصبو كما والى اليمانون تبعا

    My heart before my hand pledging allegiance

    To the noble king may he rise ever higher

  16. يبايع قلبي قبل كفي عالما

    على الملك أربى قدره وترفعا

    Nurtured pure literary Arabic

    Schooled in its arts since early days

  17. تغذى من الفصحى بمحض لبانها

    وشب على آدابها وترعرعا

    Learned in religious law answers he has

    Mastering knowledge befitting his stage

  18. أدرك من فقه الشريعة سؤله

    وأصل في شتى العلوم وفرعا

    Up to sixty years carrying the load

    The burdens of glory never to waver

  19. وسار الى الستين يحمل عبئها

    وعبء المعالي ما ونى أو تزعزعا

    His lessons revealed a mind versed

    In philosophy and theology sublimed

  20. لقد عن لي من درسه أن عقله

    بفلسفة دينية قد تشبعا

    I see him rising to highest thoughts

    In the mystic way of Ghazali the guide

  21. أراه بها يرقى المراقي فكرة

    وينزع فيها (للغزالي) منزعا

    Unveiling Sufi leanings Salafist

    To the clarity of Qushayri the beam

  22. ويكشف عن صوفية سلفية

    الى وردها الصافي (القشيري) ألمعا

    And I sensed in his kindness a soul

    Like musk so refined with scent sufficed

  23. وقد عن لي من لطفه أن قلبه

    كمسك تزكى طيبة وتضوعا

    I found in him whenever we met

    Utmost gentleness, care and content

  24. أشاهد منه العطف مهما لقيته

    وألمس فيه الرفق بي والرضى معا

    He composes like Amr ibn Kulthum

    Or remembers all asked like Rub’a acclaimed

  25. ويرجز (كالعجاج) لي أو كرؤبة

    وذاكرة في حفظ ما شئت أطوعا

    Had I wished I would have reached Absi’s eloquence

    But am no rival to the unmatched littérateur

  26. فلو شئت شأو (الشنفرى) لبلغته

    ولم تقتنع حتى تبز (المقنعا)

    Ask me to count all I have memorized

    I would have vied with Hammad or Ibn Al-A’sam

  27. ولو شئت إحصاء لما قد حفظته

    لفاخرت (حمادا) به (وابن أصمعا)

    You visited analyzing and probing

    Gracious healer prescribing the cure

  28. رحلت الينا فاحصا متفقدا

    ضنانا وأحكمت الدواء لينجعا

    If only we cast plots aside

    And all disgraces unanimously ban

  29. فيا ليتنا نرمي الدسائس جانبا

    ويا ليتنا ننفي الخسائس أجمعا

    To the land of palms you promptly headed

    To solve disputes and push perils away

  30. وجزت إلى (أرض النخيل) مبادرا

    لها لتحل المشكلات وتدفعا

    Did the land of palms rise to the occasion?

    Did its ambitious projects smoothly sail?

  31. فهل نخلت أرض النخيل شؤنها

    وهل شرعت مشروعها المتوقعا

    We knew your colleague an able builder

    Artful designer of the school unveiled

  32. رفيقك معمار عرفناه ماهرا

    تفنن في دار (الحديث) وأبدعا

    As though in recruiting him you presented

    Our youth with a trailblazer role model

  33. كأنك في استصحابه لك عارض

    على نشئنا أعلى مثال ليتبعا

    None tastes glory but tasting bitter first

    Enduring adversities with gallant patience

  34. وما نال مجدا غير من كان دونه

    تجرع مرا راضيا ما تجرعا

    Nor can freemen reach their destiny

    Unless equipped with righteous deeds

  35. ولا يلحق الأحرار من لم يكن إلى

    منازلهم بالصالحات تذرعا

    No free man but one who erects a center

    To glean true knowledge for good to channel

  36. وما الحر إلا من تيمم معهدا

    ليقتبس العلم الصحيح فينفعا

    No freeman but one with a will of steel

    From desires aloof and innocent

  37. وإلا من اعلولى عن النفس همة

    وأعرض عن أغراضها وتورعا

    No freeman but one who would plunge in battle

    To conquer a land or meet a noble death

  38. وإلا من اختاض الوغى في كتيبة

    ليفتح مصرا أو يلاقي مصرعا

    O subjugated nation can you not see

    Your neighbor obsessed with autocracy?

  39. فيا أيها الشعب الذليل أما ترى

    لجارك هما بالسيادة مولعا

    The West rules the world with no exception

    And still covets the planets to annex!

  40. بنو الغرب حازوا عالم الأرض كله

    وإن لهم في عالم النجم مطمعا!

    In the land you hail from what did you gain?

    Any throne or authority you collect?

  41. فهل حزت في الأرض التي أنت نجلها

    من الحكم شبرا أو من الملك إصبعا

    Your homelands are your mangers so preserve them

    And guard their borders to not disturb

  42. بلادك في الدنيا تلادك فارعها

    وحاذر على أكنافها أن تروعا

    Your lands are mothers among all nations

    Having nursed you fondle them with love unsparing

  43. وأرضك في الأوطان أمك فاحبها

    ببر ففي أخلافها عشت مرضعا

    Your faith is your treasure among religions

    Cherish and preserve it from being wasted

  44. ودينك في الأديان كنزك فاحتفظ

    به إنه ما انفك منك مضيعا

    Your life is war if weak so toughen your will

    Refusing humiliation or submission

  45. حياتك حرب للضعيف فكن بها

    قويا أبيا أن تذل وتخضعا

    I saw no weaponry or industry

    A nation with no factories what endures?

  46. ولم أر فيها كالمصانع عدة

    فيا ويح شعب ليس يملك مصنعا

    Put hope in your scholars for they are

    Thirsty to quench and hungry to provide

  47. وحسن بأهل العلم ظنك إنهم

    عطاش لكي تروى جياع لتشبعا

    Never can guidance condone disgrace

    Nor would a brother of light betray or deceive

  48. معاذ الهدى أن يستطيب أخو الهدى

    خبيثا وحاشا أن يخون ويخدعا

    The wiles of fate intimidate with their tricks

    But we are not afraid or prone to grieve

  49. يهددنا ريب الزمان بخطبه

    ولم نك من ريب الزمان لنفجعا

    Ask Time about us how we endured

    Onslaughts of hardship and woes believed

  50. سل الدهر عنا كم صمدنا لشدة

    بها شن غارات علينا وشنعا

    We do not pretend save what our hearts contain

    Islam rejects all falsity we weave

  51. فلم نتصنع غير ما في قلوبنا

    ويأبى لنا الإسلام أن نتصنعا

    Announce my brother who fears the wrath

    We learned from Jarir before Bashshar contrived

  52. وبشر أخا يخشى الوعيد بما به

    علمنا (جريرا) قبل بشر (مربعا)

    We disagree but passing no judgment

    Whoever opines is free to perceive

  53. رأينا ولم نعذل مخالف رأينا

    فمن كان ذا رأي إليه تشيعا

    Souls made by God are innately stubborn

    The wisest is one who can balance and weave

  54. لقد خلق الله النفوس عنيدة

    وفاضل ما بين العقول ونوعا

    How can one expect united temperaments

    When God diverse temperaments gave?

  55. وكيف يروم الناس للطبع وحدة

    وقد جعل الله الطبائع أربعا

    May God reward those striving with us

    And all who aided strivers to achieve

  56. جزى الله عنا من سعى لصلاحنا

    ومن كان عونا في الصلاح لمن سعى

    Islam approved of every honorable

    Batna invited so they convened

  57. لقد رضي الاسلام عن كل فاضل

    (بباتنة) استدعى الضيوف فأمتعا

    And all benefactors to Muslims

    Donating to sciences applauded indeed

  58. وعن محسن في المسلمين بداره

    على العلماء المسلمين تبرعا

    And any freeman of any doctrine

    Spreading knowledge valued is his creed

  59. وعن أي حر كان من أي فرقة

    أعان على نشر العلوم وشجعا

    We are but people of heavenly roots

    Branches eternally verdant and steeled

  60. وما نحن الا امة ذات نسبة

    سماوية الأسباب لن تتقطعا

    Had the lofty Atlas dared to fight us

    Its iron would have failed to impede

  61. وذرية للأطلس الفخم لو به

    تصدت لنا ذرية ما تصدعا

    If Tucor's son called Jerjer's would answer

    A friend never fails one who pleads

  62. اذا ما دعا (توقر) ابن أجابه

    (بجرجرة) ابن ليس يخذل من دعا

    Pardon if we decline a poem read to us

    By a friend though hearing is our need

  63. وعفوا اذا عفنا القريض فلم نجب

    صديقا دعانا للقريض فأسمعا

    Alas the dove is called to retire

    But declines to repose taking heed

  64. فيا أسفا يدعى الحمام عشية

    ليسجع لكن لا يميل ليسجعا

    Fearing hunters would make it their prey

    Its wing broken severely bleeding

  65. ترى؟ خاف بعض الصائدين يصيبه

    فيسقط مكسور الجناح مضعضعا

    Or sullied by storms in its path

    Losing bearings confused where to speed

  66. أم التاث من بعض الزوابع لوثة

    بها لم يعد يدري الهديل المرجعا

    We refrain from composing verse mostly

    For poets failed in most they alleged

  67. لقد صدنا عن قالة الشعر أننا

    نرى جلهم قد خاب في جل ما ادعى

    Poetry no boon but bane in disguise

    Hence few with us have by it succeeded

  68. وما الشعر إلا محنة طي منحة

    لذا قل من بالشعر فينا تمتعا

    It lured Imru al-Qais to his death

    And Bishr ibn Abi Khazim waylaid

  69. فقد جر قدما (لامرئى القيس) حتفه

    وشتت فكر (ابن الحسين) ووزعا

    Robbed Mutanabbi of all comrades

    Till none remained for companionship to plead

  70. أعرى من الأنس (المعري) فامترى

    الى أن نعى حينا على الإنس ما نعى

    Apologies for a lengthy piece

    But a spacious race we found indeed

  71. وعذرا اذا طال القصيد فإننا

    وجدنا مجالا للتسابق أوسعا

    We stumbled and fell off a worn horse

    All who enter race risk fall and bleed

  72. خببنا وأوضعنا على متن ضامر

    ومن دخل المضمار خب وأوضعا

    Worthiest of triumph before God

    Is one who fulfilled creed and good deed

  73. وأجدر خلق الله بالفوز مؤمن

    إلى الله أدى فرضه وتطوعا

    O blessed delegation your voyage

    From Al Jawza appeared the brightest

  74. ويا أيها الوفد الموفق رحلة

    أراك من الجوزاء أبهج مطلعا

    Received in our pavilion with kindness

    See you off from our hearts the sincerest

  75. وأقم في حمانا باللطائف مكرما

    وغادر حمانا بالقلوب مشيعا
