بنينا فارتضى الشعب البناء

وعوضنا من الشغب الهناء

We built, so the people approved the building,

We have built, and the people are well-pleased with the edifice,

And we replaced turmoil with tranquility.

And we have substituted tranquility for unrest.

وأرأسنا ابن باديس ففزنا

وأدركنا على يده الرجاء

We followed Ibn Badis, so we succeeded,

We appointed Ibn Badis to lead, and thus we triumphed,

And through him we attained hope.

And at his hands, we realized our hopes.

فرعيا للرئيس وألف رعي

وحاط بنا حمى وسما لواء

He cared for the president and brought together the flock,

So may the President be guarded, and guarded a thousand times over,

And protected us with care and raised a banner.

A sanctuary has encompassed us, and a banner has soared high.

ودام لنا أبا برا ودمنا

بنين له كراما أوفياء

He was always kind to us and we were his loyal sons.

May he remain for us a righteous father, and may we remain

We built for him honorable and faithful sons.

To him, sons of nobility and loyalty.

وما جمعية العلماء الا

مثابة إخوة صدقوا الإخاء

The Association of Scholars is but

And the Association of Scholars is naught but

Brothers who upheld true brotherhood.

A gathering place for brothers who have proven true to their bond.

وفي بلد الجزائر عائلات

تبادلها المهودة والولاء

In the country of Algeria there are families

And within the land of Algeria are families

That exchange goodwill and loyalty.

Exchanging with it affection and allegiance,

وتشملها بإحسان وعون

لوجه العلم لا ترجو الجزاء

They cover them with kindness and support

Encompassing it with benevolence and aid

For the sake of knowledge, not seeking reward.

For the sake of Knowledge, seeking no reward.

فشكرا فتية النادي وحمدا

لقد كرمتم العلم احتفاء

So thank you, youth of the noble club, and praise

So thanks be to you, youths of the club, and praise,

For you have honored knowledge with celebration.

For you have honored Knowledge with high celebration.

عرفناكم لأهل العلم أهلا

وأسرع مت يجيب لهم نداء

We knew you as the true people of knowledge,

We have known you to be worthy kin to the people of learning,

And you quickly respond to their call.

And the swiftest to answer their call,

وأوفى الناس بالقيم اعتناقا

وأولى الناس بالأدب اعتناء

You are the most faithful in upholding values

The most faithful of people in embracing values,

And the most civilized in refinement.

And the foremost of people in tending to culture.

ومن يخلد إلى العلماء يخلد

ويؤجر مثل أجرهم سواء

Whoever turns to the scholars, turns to eternity,

Whoever seeks refuge with the scholars shall be immortalized,

And earns reward equal to theirs.

And shall be rewarded equally as they are.

وأزكى المحسنين يدا وأحظى

بأجر الله من حذر الرياء

The most virtuous in generosity and the most fortunate

The purest of benefactors in deed, and the most fortunate

In God's reward is one who avoids hypocrisy.

In God's reward, is he who shunned ostentation.

رعاك الله من ناد كريم

شهدت به الكرام الأصفياء

May God protect you, you noble youth,

May God protect you, O noble gathering,

Witnessed by the most virtuous.

To which the noble and pure have borne witness.

ونجوى أفرغت نغما فلولا

جلال العلم لابتكرت غناء

Your intimate talk poured out melodies, and were it not

And a whisper poured forth as melody; were it not for

For the majesty of knowledge, it would have invented songs.

The majesty of Knowledge, it would have become song.

جرت فيه على الآذان شعرا

طبيعيا وفى الأفواه ماء

It flowed to the ears as natural poetry and to the mouths as water.

It flowed upon the ears as natural poetry,

If given deeper meaning, it would attain healing.

Though mouths were filled with water.

كلام لو أصاخ اليه مضنى

لأدرك من معانيه الشفاء

The highest struggle is free speech

Speech to which, if the weary were to listen,

With which to protect the people from affliction.

He would find within its meanings a cure.

ومن أعلى الجهاد كلام حر

يذود به عن الشعب البلاء

Youth of the club, I see eyes turn

And among the highest forms of struggle is the word of a free man,

To your glory that reached the heavens.

With which he defends the people against tribulation.

بني النادي ارى الأبصار ترنو

لمجدكم الذي بلغ السماء

March on the path of glory and proceed,

O sons of the club, I see eyes gazing

And do not stop, content with your pace.

Towards your glory that has reached the heavens.

فسيروا في سبيل المجد وامضوا

ولا تقفوا بحضكم اكتفاء

Remain stars on the horizon, flowers

So march upon the path of glory and press on,

We follow their rays for guidance.

And halt not, content merely with your current fortune.

ودمتم أنجما في الأفق زهرا

نسير على أشعتها اهتداء

You have triumphed in all you aimed for and succeeded

May you remain as shining stars upon the horizon,

By the grace of God, beginning and end.

By whose rays we guide our steps.

وحزتم كل ما رمتم وفزتم

بفضل الله بدءا وانتهاء

And you have achieved all you sought and triumphed,

By the grace of God, from beginning to end.
