لـو إلى حَتْفي، مُرينـي

لا تُغالي في اتـهامـي

حاكميـني، وارحـميني

Do not exaggerate in blaming me

Do not exaggerate in accusing me;

فإلى قاضي الهوى، اسْـ

ـتَسْلمـي أو سَلِّـميني

So to the judge of passion, I

شِـئْتِ أو لا، فاتركيني

اِحْقِنيني، خـدِّريني

From the nectar of rapture, give generously

From the nectar of passion, be generous;

Inject me, sedate me

بالثواني، في كـؤوسي

في طـقوسي، شاركيني

In my moments, in my cups

Through the seconds, in my cups,

In my rituals, accompany me

In my rituals, partake with me.

خَبِّرينـي عن هُيامـي

عن سـهادي صَبِّريني

Tell me of my infatuation

Tell me about my infatuation,

Of my insomnia, console me

About my insomnia, grant patience to me.

عَلّميني: كيـف أشدو

كيـف أسلو،أوخذيني

Teach me: how to sing poetry

Teach me: how do I sing?

How to be distracted, or take me

How do I forget? Or else, take me.

صادري مستقبلي،عقـ

ـلي،بصمتٍ،أو ذريني

Seize my future, my mind

Confiscate my future, my m-

In silence, or scatter me

-ind, in silence, or leave me.

في همومـي أحتسيهـا

مُرْغَماً، أرجوكِ، لينـي

In my worries, I perceive them

Amidst my sorrows, I sip them

Forcibly, I beg you, soften me

Compelled; I beg you, be gentle with me.

هل غدا عشقي صـلاةً؟

لَيْتَـهُ ما كان دينـي!

Has my love become a prayer?

Has my love become a prayer?

If only it were not my religion!

Would that it had never been my religion!

من بلاء الهجرِ، أجـري

شِبْهَ مهزومٍ، سَلينـي

From the affliction of separation, I flee

From the affliction of abandonment, I flee,

Like a defeated one, make me smooth

Like one defeated—ask of me.

أكتفـي بالصَّدِّ حـيناً

منكِ قَهْراً، فاعذرينـي

I suffice with rejection sometimes

I am content with rejection at times,

From you by force, so excuse me

Forced upon me by you, so excuse me.

أمـهليـني حِقْـبَةً من

كل عمري، جاملينـي

Give me an era from

Grant me respite for an era of

All my life, indulge me

My whole life, humor me.

لا تبالي، عَجِّـلي،مَهْـ

ـما أُغالي، سامحينـي

Do not care, hurry, whatever

Do not care, hurry, what-

I exaggerate, forgive me

-ever I exaggerate, forgive me.

عن عيـوبي إنْ تَخَفََّتْ

أو تَبَـدَّتْ، سائلينـي

About my faults if they fade

About my flaws, if they are hidden,

Or appear, ask me

Or revealed, question me.

واغفري لي كُلَّ خِطْءٍ

رغم حُمْقي، واكِبينـي

And forgive me every sin

And forgive me every mistake;

Despite my stupidity, accompany me

Despite my foolishness, keep pace with me.

بعد أنْ أذْلَلْتِ نفسـي

اِنْدَمي، واسْتَغْفِرينـي

After you have humiliated me

Feel regret, and seek pardon from me.

إِنَّ أهْـلي قد رَمَـوْني

بِجُـنونٍ، فاسْعِفينـي

My family has blamed me

Indeed, my people have accused me

With madness, so help me

بِلـِقـاءٍ فيـه قُـرْبٌ

ثُمَّ وَصْلٌ، واشترينـي

With a meeting in it closeness

With a meeting filled with closeness,

Then connection, and buy me

Then communion, and purchase me.

قَـدِّري ودّي بِصِـدْقٍ

بالعِدى، لا تسْتَعيني

Value my affection sincerely

Value my affection truthfully;

Not contentiously, do not seek aid

Do not seek the aid of enemies.

وادْرَئي عنّي شُـجوناً

تَعْتَريـني، كلَّ حـينِ

And ward off sorrows

And ward off from me the sorrows

That afflict me, every time

That grip me at every moment.

في شِغافِ القلب، صوني

عِـزَّتي: حُبِّي الأمينِ

In the intimacy of the heart, protect me

Within the depths of the heart, protect

My dignity: my faithful love

My pride: my faithful love.
