Torment me and find relief
Drive me mad, then take your rest,
I only confess in secret
But only in secret reveal it.
Our love is an illusion of clouds
Our love is an illusion, mere clouds,
That never inclines toward clarity
That never leaned toward clarity.
Reproach the state of a wan, languid lover
Reproach these states of passion,
These are the phantoms of an illness
Pale, feeble, and crippled.
That plagues, I weep and wail
These are the phantoms of an illness,
Give me a choice between death
Sudden and looming; weep and wail.
Or life, then revive me
Give me a choice, between a death
And remember me, each day
Or a life, and then roam free.
And hear the pulse of the wounded one
And remember me, every single day,
My eyes, my imagination
And listen to the pulse of the wounded.
Beware suppressing ambition
O my eyes, O my imagination,
You are an angel in my eyes
Beware of stifling ambition.
You are my soul, do not go
You are an angel in my eyes,
Oh angel of love, cure
You are my soul, so do not depart.
The illness of a delirious one
O angel of love, bring healing to
So pity my weakness and condition
The illness of a forgiving madman.
And ask my tear's forgiveness
Have mercy on my weakness and my plight,
Reprimand me, shun me
And ask my generous, pouring tears.
Enough, hang me, do not permit it
Quarrel with me, sever ties with me,
You are a flower, you are a rose
Enough—but do not sanction my hanging.
My blossom, with pardon, bloom
You are jasmine, you are a rose,
Standing, counting my wounds
My blossom, exhale the scent of pardon.
What closeness, what union
Here I am, a patient servant,
Is up to the merciful command
Standing, counting up my wounds.
My ship is a fortress, come up
Any closeness, any union,
And accept the betrayal of departure
Is indeed a comforting matter.
If you see an opening soon
My vessel is a fortress, come,
Go, do not strike my head
And accept the treachery of straying!
And act wisely at times
If you see a victory drawing near,
And leave the rule of madness
Consider! Do not sever my head.
And act upon reason for a while,
And abandon the rule of wild caprice.
