لا شَيءَ فِي الدَّهْرِ يُغْنِي عَنْ أَخِي ثِقَةٍ
يَكُونُ فِيهِ بَلاغُ السَّمْعِ وَالْبَصَرِ
Nothing in this world can take the place of a trusted brother,
one in whom both ear and eye find all they need.
قَضَيْتُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيءٍ رُمْتُهُ وَطَرَاً
إِلَّا مُحَادَثَةَ الإِخْوَانِ فِي السَّمَرِ
Of everything I ever sought, I have had my fill—
except conversing with friends in the evening hours.
