بَلَغْتِ مَدَاكِ مِنْ أَرَبٍ فَسِيحِي

فَأَنْتِ الْيَوْمَ فِي جَوٍّ فَسِيحِ

You have reached me at night

So wander freely in this open air

تَرَكْتِ الْجِسْمَ فَيمَا كَانَ مِنْهُ

وَغِبْتِ بِلُجَّةِ لَوْنِ الْمَسِيحِ

You left behind the flesh that once was yours

And disappeared in Jesus' graceful glare

فَعَادَتْ صُورَةُ الْجُثْمَانِ عُطْلاً

لِفَقْدِكِ مِثْلَ دِينارٍ مَسِيحِ

So now this shell of bone stands vacant, null -

For you were precious as a coin of gold

وَلَوْ يَقْوَى لَسَارَ وَكَيْفَ يَقْوى

عَلَى هَوْلِ السُّرَى قَدَمُ الْكَسِيحِ

If legs could move, how would they find the strength

To tread where only spirits dare to hold?

سَبَحْتِ بِغَمْرَةٍ كَالْشَّمْسِ نُوراً

وَعَامَ مِنَ الْخَجَالَةِ في مَسِيحِ

You bathed in radiance like the beaming sun

And walked on seas of utmost bashfulness

فَلَيْتَكِ تَرْجِعِينَ لَنَا بِصِدْقٍ

يُبَاغِتُ كُلَّ خَتَّالٍ مَسِيحِ

If only you might come back true to us

And startle every flirting feigned mistress

بِرَبِّكِ هَلْ وَجَدْتِ كَمَا وَجَدْنَا

خِلافاً بَيْنَ أَحْمَدَ وَالْمَسِيحِ

By your Lord, did you find as we have found

Division between Ahmad and Christ?
