خَلِّ الْمِرَاءَ لِفِتْيَةِ الدَّرْسِ

وَاعْكُفْ عَلَى صَفْرَاءَ كَالْوَرْسِ

Leave arguing for the young students

And devote yourself to the yellow parchment like a bouquet

نُورٌ تَوَقَّدَ بَيْنَ آنِيَةٍ

كَبَيَاضِ صُبْحٍ شَفَّ عَنْ شَمْسِ

A light kindled between vessels

Like the whiteness of dawn when the sun appears

هِيَ جَوْهَرٌ كَالنَّفْسِ مَا بَرِحَتْ

تُهْدِي السُّرُورَ لِكُلِّ ذِي نَفْسِ

It is a gem like the soul that has not ceased

To bring joy to everyone with a soul

قَدْ شَاكَلَتْهَا فَهْيَ تَأْلَفُهَا

وَالْجِنْسُ يَأْلَفُ صُحْبَةَ الْجِنْسِ

It resembled her so it befriends her

And kind befriends the company of its kind

رَقَّت وَدَقَّتْ فِي قَرَارَتِهَا

فَسَمَتْ عَنِ الإِدْرَاكِ بِالْحِسِّ

It softened and thinned in its subtlety

So it transcended comprehension by the senses

يَسْقِيكَهَا خَنِثٌ شَمَائِلُهُ

تَدْعُو إِلَى التَّقْبِيلِ وَاللَّمْسِ

A delicate effeminate man serves it to you

Inciting you to kiss and touch

فَاهْنَأْ بِعَيْشٍ لَيْسَ يُوْجَدُ فِي

غَيْرِ الكَرى أَوْ عَالَمِ الْحَدْسِ

So enjoy a life not found

Beyond imagination or the world of intuition
