لا تَخْشَ بُؤْسَاً مِنْ عَدُوٍّ ظَاهِرٍ
وَاخْشَ الْمَكِيدَةَ مِنْ عَدوٍّ بَاطِنِ
Do not fear hardship from an enemy in plain sight;
but fear the plot of an enemy who lies hidden.
كَمْ بَيْنَ شَرٍّ ظَاهِرٍ مُسْتَدْرَكٍ
مِنْهُ الْخَلاصُ وَبَيْنَ شَرٍّ بَاطِنِ
How vast the gulf between an overt evil, from which deliverance
can be secured, and an evil that lies concealed.
