لا تَرْكَنَنَّ إِلَى الِعَدُوِّ فَإِنَّهُ

يَبْغِي سِقَاطَكَ بِالحَدِيثِ الْمُعْجِبِ

Do not incline towards the enemy, for he

Seeks to bring about your downfall through sweet talk

كَالنَّارِ تَخْتَدِعُ الْفَراشَ بِحُسْنِهَا

فَيَنَالُ مِنْهُ الْبُؤْسُ إِنْ لَمْ يَعْطَبِ

Like fire that consumes the moth with its beauty

And so calamity strikes it if it is not prudent
