1. خَلِيلَيَّ مَا فِي الدَّهْرِ أَطْوَلُ حَسْرَةً

    مِنَ الْمَرْءِ يَلْقَى فُرْصَةً فَيَخِيمُ

    My friend, nothing in life is longer than regret

    For one who finds a chance yet fails to seize it.

  2. وَإِنَّ امْرَءاً يَلْقَى فَوَاضِلَ نِعْمَةٍ

    بِأَرْضٍ وَيَنْوِي غَيْرَهَا لَمُلِيمُ

    A man may find true blessings come his way,

    Yet elsewhere set his sights, and so will grieve.
