Oh my father, whose light embodied
Bestows upon us bounty overflowing
He tarried for a time upon this earth
Until his heavenly abode came calling
For he was but a star that graced the soil
Awhile, but when his time was done, withdrew his glow
He shed the raiment of demise, unfurled
To highest heaven, radiant in its hallowed flow
Now swimming in a sea of light serene
Unknown his shores, boundless his ebb and flow
Freed from sheath of worldly woes, pristine
Naught left but glimmer of his shining sword’s echo
If he's now gone, still he endures, his visage
A star motivating yearning with its halo
And were it not my faith he's in a garden
Celestial, his memory would tears bestow
On you, peace, from a heart that sends
To you, a yearning no remedy can know
