1. دَعِ الْهَزْلَ وَاحْذَرْ تُرَّهَاتِ الْمُنَادَمَهْ

    فَكَمْ مِنْ غَوِيٍّ قَدْ أَسَالَ الْمُنَى دَمَهْ

    Give up jesting and beware the lures of drinking companions

    For how many a wanton reveler has shed his life's blood

  2. فَمَهْ لا تَفُهْ بِالْقَوْلِ قَبْلَ انْتِقَادِهِ

    فَرُبَّ كَلامٍ فَضَّ مِنْ قَائِلٍ فَمَهْ

    So do not be quick to speak before considering it

    For many a word has undone its speaker
