O gentle-eyed one with languid grace
What has made you neglect my yearning?
Why do you not mourn a depressed one
Whose lips drip with sadness?
Alas, you did not hear my mouth's complaint
Or see the wasting of my body.
O servants of God, who will help a lad
Enslaved by passions and desires?
Yearning has fed on his essence
And anguish has consumed him, so he pines.
Ah, for a gazelle I hunted down
Who left me stranded in love's plains.
Sorcerer of eyes, your glances never
Faltered from being sources of temptation.
Some tale-bearers have taken him
And whispered malicious rumors in his ear,
Turning him from his true nature
While his heart's reins are in his ear.
An evil companion is one who conjures
Reasons for anxiety and tribulation.
So leave this world, for you will not find
A friend save one enshrouded in smoke.
He who flowed beyond his banks
Was left suspended in suspicions.
