1. وَا لَوْعَةَ الْقَلْبِ مِنْ غِزْلانِ أَخْبِيَةٍ

    تَكَادُ تَسْكَرُ مِنْ أَحْدَاقِهَا الرَّاحُ

    Oh, the heart's agony from the gazelles of hidden vales

    The breeze grows drunk from their glances

  2. مِنْ كُلِّ مَائِسَةٍ كَالْغُصْنِ قَدْ جَمَعَتْ

    بَدَائِعَاً كُلُّها لِلْحُسْنِ أَوْضَاحُ

    From every banquet like a branch she has gathered

    Marvels, all of them manifest in beauty

  3. فَالْعَيْنُ نَرْجِسَةٌ والشَّعْرُ سَوْسَنَةٌ

    والنَّهْدُ رُمَّانَةٌ والْخَدُّ تُفَّاحُ

    So the eye is a narcissus and the hair hyacinth

    And the breast a pomegranate and the cheek an apple
