1. كَيْفَ أَهْجُوكَ والدَّنَاءَةُ سُورٌ

    مِنْ حَدِيدٍ يَقِيكَ طَعْنِي وَضَرْبِي

    How can I woo you when baseness is a wall

    Of iron that protects you from my thrust and blow?

  2. لَكَ عِرْضٌ أَرَقُّ نَسْجَاً مِنَ الرِّي

    حِ وَأَوْهَى مِنْ طَيْلَسانِ ابْنِ حَرْبِ

    You have a body more delicate than silk cloth

    And weaker than the son of Harb's coat of mail.
