I weep for Abu Al-Hazzaz on a day of standing

For the host of guests and shelter of the needy

When winter dawned early upon them

And a northerner returned on a bright day

The destitute took shelter in their rooms

And all the generous were torn apart

Would that you found Arbada, whose face lights up

Like an ever full moon that does not wane or gleam alone
