1. لِمَن طَلَلٌ تَضَمَّنَهُ أُثالُ

    فَسَرحَةُ فَالمَرانَةُ فَالخَيالُ

    For whom is a ruined abode which includes meadows,

    So sprawling, and imaginings, and a spring,

  2. فَنَبعٌ فَالنَبيعُ فَذو سُدَيرٍ

    لِئارامِ النِعاجِ بِهِ سِخالُ

    And a little spring, even one with Sudeir,

    For the comfort of sheep through it - refuge.

  3. ذَكَرتُ بِهِ الفَوارِسَ وَالنَدامى

    فَدَمعُ العَينِ سَحٌّ وَاِنهِمالُ

    I recalled in it the horsemen and the reproachers,

    So the tears of the eye flowing, and being ladled.

  4. كَأَنّي في نَدِيِّ بَني أُقَيشٍ

    إِذا ما جِئتَ نادِيَهُم تُهالُ

    As if I were in the nitty valley of Bani Uqaysh,

    When you come calling them - they answer.

  5. تَكاثَرَ قُرزُلٌ وَالجَونُ فيها

    وَتَحجُلُ وَالنَعامَةُ وَالخَبالُ

    Bustards gathered, and beauty in them,

    Modesty, and ostriches, and the young mountain goats.

  6. بَقايا مِن تُراثِ مُقَدِّماتٍ

    وَما جَمَعَ المَرابيعُ الثِقالُ

    Remnants from the heritage of predecessors,

    And what heavy caravans gathered.
