نَفَى عَن عَينِكَ الأَرَقُ الهُجُوعَا

وَهَمٌّ يَمتَرِي مِنها الدُّمُوعَا

Sleeplessness has vanished from your eyes

And tears that used to flow ceaselessly

دَخِيلٌ في الفَؤَادِ يَهِيجُ سُقماً

وَحُزناً كانَ من جَذَلٍ مَنُوعَاً

An intruder in the heart that stirs up illness

And sorrow that was once forbidden to access

وَتَوكَافُ الدُّمُوعِ على اكتِئَابٍ

أَحَلَّ الدَّهرُ مَوُجِعَهُ الضُّلُوعَا

The gathering of tears upon depression

Has made the chest its place of pain

يُرَقرِقُ أسجُمَاً دِرَرَاً وَسكبَاً

يُشَبَِّهُ سَحُّها غَربَاً هَمُوعَا

Trickling pearls and pouring forth

Their flow resembles a grieving rain

لِفُقدَانِ الخَضَاوِمِ مِن قُرَيشٍ

وَخَيرِ الشَّافِعِينَ مَعَاً شَفِيعَا

For the loss of the brave Hashimites

And the best of intercessors combined

لَدَى الرَحمَنِ يَصدَعُ بالمَثَانِي

وكَانَ له أَبُو حَسَنٍ مُطِيعَاً

In the presence of the Merciful, he pours forth sins

And to him Abu Hasan was obedient

حَطُوطَاً في مَسَرَّتِهِ وَمَولَىً

الى مَرضَاةِ خَالِقِهِ سَرِيعَا

Steps guided toward his happiness and protector

To the pleasure of his Creator, quick

وأصفَاهُ النَّبِيُّ على اختِيَارٍ

بِمَا أعيَى الرُّفُوضَ له المُذِيعَا

The Prophet characterized him with selection

In a way that exhausted the speakers

وَيَومَ الدَّوحِ دَوحِ غَدِيرِ خُمٍّ

أبَانَ لهُ الوِلاَيَةَ لو أُطِيعَا

And on the day of Ghadir Khumm

He clarified the authority for him had he been obeyed

ولكِنَّ الرِّجالَ تَبَايَعُوهَا

فَلَم أرَ مِثلَهَا خَطَرَاً مَبِيعَا

But the men paid it allegiance

And I have not seen the like of it, a sale

فَلَم أبلُغ بِهِم لَعنَاً وَلَكِن

أسَاءَ بِذَاكَ أوَّلهُم صَنِيعَا

I cannot curse them but

The first of them did evil with that

فَصَارَ بِذَاكَ أَقرَبُهُم لِعَدلٍ

إلى جَورٍ وأحفَظُهُم مُضِيعَا

Thus he who was closest to justice

Became closest to tyranny, most wasteful of them

أضَاعُوا أمرَ قَائِدِهم فَضَلُّوا

وأقوَمِهِم لَدَى الحَدَثَانِ رِيعَا

They wasted the order of their leader and so were misguided

And most upright in the face of events, gone

فَقُل لِبَنِي أُمَيَّةَ حَيثُ حَلُّوا

وإن خِفتَ المُهَنَّدَ والقطِيعَا

Say to the clan of Umayyah wherever they are

Even if you fear the search party and spies

ألاَ اُفٍ لِدَهرٍ كُنتُ فِيهِ

هِدَانَاً طَائِعاً لَكُمُ مُطِيعَا

Alas for an era in which I was

Guide, obedient, complying to you

أجَاعَ اللهُ مَن أشبَعتُمُوهُ

وأشبَعَ مَن بِجَورِكُمُ أُجِيعَا

May Allah starve those you fed

And feed those made hungry by your tyranny

وَيَلعَنُ فَذَّ أُمَّتِهِ جِهَارَاً

إِذَا سَاسَ البَرِيَّةَ والخَلِيعَا

And curse openly the elite of his nation

When it governs the land and the corrupt

بِمَرضِيِّ السِّيَاسَةِ هَاشِمِيٍّ

يَكُونُ حَيَاً لأُمَّتِهِ رَبِيعَا

With the approved politics, Hashimite

Who will be the spring, alive, for his nation

وَليثاً فِي المَشَاهِدِ غَيرَ نِكسٍ

لِتَقوِيمِ البَرِيَّةِ مُستَطِيعَا

And unwavering lion in the arena

Able to straighten the community
