وانمار وإن رغِمت أنوفٌ

معديو العمومة والخؤولِ

Though he refused,

the generality deceivers and simpletons,

وعمرو بن الخُثارم كان طبا

بنسبتهم وتصديقاً لقيلي

Amr ibn al-Kuthayyir was good

in their lineage and my words he believed,

وليس ابن الخُثارم كان طبا

بمقصي المحلِّ ولا دخيلِ

And not because ibn al-Kuthayyir was good

in his land or an outsider,

لهم لغة تبيَّنُ من أبوهم

مع الغرر الشوادخ والحُجُولِ

They have a language that shows their father

along with the outstanding and ignorant.
