أنَّى وَمِن أينَ آبَكَ الطَّرَبُ

مِن حَيثُ لا صَبوَةٌ ولا رِيَبٌ

From whence, and from where did sorrow disturb you

From a place with no infatuation, nor doubt

لا مِن طِلابِ المُحَجَّبَاتِ إذا

ألقى دُونَ المَعَاصِر الحُجبُ

Not from the seekers of the veiled

When the curtain fell below the abodes

ولاحُمولٍ غَدَت ولا دِمَنٍ

مَرَّ لها من بَعدِ حِقبَةٍ حِقَبُ

Nor from laden camels who passed

After a period of time,

ولم تَهِجنِي الظُؤارُ في المَنزِل

القَفرِ بُرُوكاً وما لَهَا رُكَبُ

Nor did the guests in the desolate abode disturb me

With bleating and they have no mounting beasts

جُردٌ جِلادٌ مُعَطَّفَاتٌ على ال

أقرنِ لا رِجعَةٌ ولا جَلَبُ

Stripped warriors cloaked

With no return and no retrieving

ولا مَخَاضٌ ولا عِشارُ مَطَا

فيلُ ولا قُرَّحٌ ولا سُلُبُ

No labor pain, nor tithe of she-camel

No wounding, no capture

أُنِخنَ أُدمَاً فَصِرنَ دُهماً وما

غَيَّرَهُنَّ الهِنَاءُ والجَرَبُ

They became worn out, so they became lean

Neither tenderness, nor itch altered them

كانت مَطَايَا المُضَمَّناتِ من ال

جُوعِ دواءَ العِيَال أن سَغِبُوا

Their starved camels became a cure for their children when they were destitute

No cries remained in the abode of the dwelling

ولا شَجِيجٌ أقَامَ في دِمنَةِ ال

مَنزِلِ لا نَاكِحٌ ولا عَزَبٌ

Neither a marrier nor bachelor

Disheveled, with worn-out clothes

أشعَثُ ذو لِمَّةٍ تخطّأه ال

الدُهن غَنياً وَمَا له نَشَبُ

Grease defiled him while having no wealth

It drapes him like a cloak, wandering

قَلَّدُه كالوِشاحِ جَالَ على ال

كَاعِبِ من مُنهِجَاتِه الطُنُبُ

Above the sands with his slopes

Neither like the craftsmen's furnace cast

ولا كَمِدرى الصَنَاع أُلقِي ف

ي الدِمنَة لا مُصفَح ولا خَشِبُ

In the abode - no iron armor, nor wood

Nor of the humiliated dark camels

ولا دَوَادٍ أُذِلَّ منهن لل

وِلدَة ما جَرَّروا وما سَحَبوا

What they dragged or pulled

Why do I have an abode after its dweller

مَا لِيَ في الدَّارِ بعدَ ساكِنها

ولو تَذَكّرتُ أهلَها أرَبُ

Even if I remembered its people, I would sob

Neither did the abode reply to its questioner

لاَ الدَّارُ رَدّت جَوابَ سَائِلَها

ولا بَكَت أهلَها إذا اغتَرَبُوا

Nor did its people weep when they went far

They were intimate friends of the abode

أهلاَنِ للدَّارِ مِنهُم الأَنَسُ الظَّا

عِنُ مِنهُم باكٍ ومُكتَئِبُ

The sociable ones from them, and the grieved

Emptiness after intimacy inhabiting

والوَحشُ بَعدَ الأنِيسِ قَاطِنَةٌ

لِكُلِّ دَارٍ من أهلِهَا عُقَبُ

Every abode from its people has consequence

They neither assembled nor were averse

لا هَؤلاءِ اجتَوَت ولا نَكِرت

ولاَ عَلَى هؤُلاكَ تَنتَحِبُ

Nor did they lament those who perished

O you who cries over the desolate ruins

يَا بَاكِيَ التَلعَةِ القِفَارِ وَلَم

تَبكِ عَلَيكَ التِلاَعُ والرَحَبُ

Why do you cry over it and the plains wept not

Leave with those commissioned with the abodes

أبرِح بِمَن كُلِّفَ الديارَ وما

تَزعُمُ فِيهِ الشَّواحِجُ النُعُبُ

And do not allege on it what the beasts claim

And the pasturage, were there any thorns amongst them

والأظبِيَ البَارِحَاتِ هَل كَانَ في ال

أقرُنِ مِنها أم لَم يَكُن عَضَبُ

Or were there none, they took and gave

This, not that, is my praise of the abodes

هذا ثَنَائي على الدِيارِ وقد

تأخذُ مني الدِيارُ والنَّسَبُ

Though it takes me, and lineage away from me

And I seek pleasure from the promptings of vitality

واطلُبُ الشَّأوَ من نوازعِ اللَّ

هوِ وألقى الصِبا فَنَصطَحِبُ

And I meet with youth so we accompany one another

And I gain the sober she-camel if

وأستَبِي الكَاعِبَ العَقِيلةَ إذ

أسهُمي الصائِباتُ والصُيُبُ

My arrows caused her to limp and I gain

And I preoccupy the vacant eyes of the

وأشغَلُ الفارغاتِ من أعيُنِ ال

بِيضِ وَيَسلُبنني وأستلِبُ

White complexioned and they make me forget and I forget

When I have an aged camel I straighten it

إذ لِمَّتي جَثلَةٌ أُكَفِّئُها

يَضحَكُ مني الغَوانِيُ العَجَبُ

The vain laugh at me, how strange

So it changed from black to very white

فاستَبدَلَت بالسوادِ أبيضَ لا

يَكتُمه بالخِضاب مُختَضِبُ

That dye cannot conceal with kohl

And I became like an old man, the maiden gazes

وَصِرتُ عَمَّ الفَتاةِ تَتئِبُ ال

كَاعِبُ من رُؤيتي وأتَئِبُ

At the sands disgusted from seeing me and I am disgusted

They reckon for me in years fifty

يَحسُبنَ لي في السنين خمسينَ تَك

بِيرِي والأربعينَ أحتَسِبُ

I consider myself forty

Withdrawn from me as the rope tightens

مُنطوياتٍ عني كما انقبضتُ وقد يُقبِض

بعد انبساطه السَّبَبُ أي الحَبل

After its extension the cord, that is the rope

So desire cut itself off from my heart

فَاعتَتَبَ الشوُُ من فؤادي وال

شِعرُ إلى من إليهِ مُعتَتَبُ

And the poetry inclined to whom it inclines

To the shining lamp Ahmad

إلى السِراجِ المنيرِ أحمدض لا

تَعدِلُني رَغبَةٌ ولا رَهَبُ

No desire nor fear can equate me to other than him

Even if the people lifted their eyes to me and waited expectantly

عَنهُ إلى غَيرِهِ وَلَو رَفَعَ ال

نَّاسُ إليَّ العيونَ وارتَقَبُوا

And it was said he went too far, rather I aimed

Even if the speakers rebuked me or stung me

وَقِيلَ أفرَطَّتَ بل قَصَدتُ ولو

عَنَّفَنِي القَائِلونَ أو ثَلَبُوا

To you O best of those the earth contained

Even if my words were blamed, the flaws

إليكَ يا خيرَ مَن تَضَمَّنَت ال

أرضُ وإن عابَ قوليَ العَيَبُ

With your preference my tongue poured forth

Even if the clamor and friction increased regarding you

لجَّ بتفضِيلِكَ اللسانُ ولو

أكثِرَ فيك الضَجاجُ واللَّجَبُ

You are the refined, the polished, the purest

In lineage, your people extended the lineage

أنتَ المُصَفَّى المُهَذَّبُ المَحضُ في ال

نِّسبَةِ أن نَصَّ قَومَك النَّسَبُ

The most generous of our pillars is your pillar

The fresh, moist pillar, not the dry

أكرَمُ عِيدَانِنَا وأطيَبُها

عُودُكَ عُودُ النُضارِ لا الغَرَبُ

What is between Eve until your lineage to

Amina is obscured, your growth is covered

ما بَينَ حَوَّاءَ أن نُسِبتض إلى

آمنةَ اعتَمَّ نَبتُكَ الهَدَبُ

End to end they transmitted you, for you

Is the silver among them white, and the gold

قَرناً فَقَرناً تَنَاسَخُوك لكَ ال

فِضَّةُ منها بَيضَاءُ والذَّهَبُ

Until your refined house ascended

Above the high minarets below which are the Arabs

حتى عَلا بَيتُك المُهَذَّبُ من

خِندِفَ عَليَاءَ تَحتَها العَرَبُ

The young camel splits open from its enclosure

As the places of mourning split open their wicks

يَنشَقُّ عن حَدِّها الأتِيُّ كَمَا

شُقَّت مَآلِي المَآتِمِ القُشُبُ

And the preceding truthful, the supported

And the seal of prophets as they vanished

والسَّابِقُ الصَّادِقُ المُوَفَّقُ وال

خاتِمُ للأنبياءِ إذ ذَهَبُوا

And the gathering final, the confirming

Of the former as the books alternate

والحَاشِرُ الآخِرُ المُصَدِّقُ لل

أولِ فِيمَا تَنَاسُخُ الكُتُبِ

And the mounted seeking, the winds subjugated for him

As aides and the terror

والرَاكِبُ الطَالِبُ المُسَخَّرةُ ال

رِّيحُ له ناصِرَينِ والرُعُبُ

And the goodly, named the winged ones

Attaining what they sought

والطَّيِبُونَ المُسَوَّمُونَ أُولو ال

أجنِحَةِ المُدرِكُونَ ما طَلَبُوا

Informing, warning, a light by which

Among us the circling and monuments were denied

مُبَشِّرَاً مُنذِرَاً ضياءَ به

أُنكَرَ فينا الدُّوار والنُّصُبُ

After we had clung with the camel hair

Those rituals, the decadent

مِن بَعدِ إِذ نَحنُ عَاكِفُونَ لَهَا

بالعَترِ تِلكَ المَناسِكُ الخَيَبُ

And the belief of those who claim Jesus the son of God

And what they portrayed and what they crucified

وَمِلَّةُ الزاعمينَ عيسى ابنِم اللّ

ه وما صَوَّروا وما صَلَبُوا

Emigrating, proceeding, and the war pulled up its stakes for him

At Liqa to cover its billowing clouds

مُهَاجِراً سَائِراً وقد شَالَتش الحَربُ

لِقَاحَاً لغُبرِها الكُثَبُ

Welcomed, nearing, its waters mixed

When it is milked, the cold remains

مَبسُورَةً شَارِفاً مُصَرَّمَةً

مَحلُوبُها الصَّابُ حِينَ تُحتَلَبُ

In turns ending to turns

From which it turns away and the state changes

في مَرِنٍ ينتهي إلى مَرِنٍ

عنه انصِرَافاً والحَالُ يَنقَلِبُ

In a clear divorce to Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj

The glory of life and the glory of the afterlife

في طَلَقٍ مِيحَ للأَوسِ والخَزرَجِ

ما لا تَضَمَّنُ القُلُبُ

Two registers they do not neglect when they drank

And a name it is the useful, not the false rumor

مَجدُ حَيَاةٍ وَمَجدُ آخرةٍ

سَجلانِ لا يَنزَحَان ما شَرِبُوا

Nor title, of whoever said it or the nickname

Not from birth or inheritance of father

واسمٌ هو المستفادُ لا النَبَزُ ال

كاذبُ مَن قَالَهُ ولا اللَّقَبُ

Except the benevolence for which they resented

O companion of the basin, the day

لا من تِلادٍ ولا تُراثِ أبٍ

إلا عطاءَ الذي له غَضِبُوا

Which the arrival drinks not but what was rippled

My soul ransoms the greatest it contained

يا صاحبَ الحَوضِ يَومَ لا شِربَ للض

وَارِدِ إلا ما كان يَضطَرِبُ

Your grave in which is chastity and dignity

Your reward with me from love of your nearness

نَفسِي فَدَت أعظُماً تَضَمَّنَها

قَبرُكَ فيه العَفَافُ والحَسَبُ

Are the passions of my soul the gazelles

In firm covenants of my love, tight

أجرُك عندي من الأوُدِّ لقُرباك

سَجِيّاتُ نَفسِيَ الوُظبُ

Its foliage and knots appeared from it

And an attachment ending in its beginning

في عُقَدٍ من هَواي مُحكَمَةٍ

ظُوهِرَ منها العِنَاجُ والكَرَبُ

They obtained its elite and did not become base

A people when the valiant clash

واصلةٍ آخِرَاً بأوَّلِها

تَنَخَّلُوا صَفوَها وما خَشَبُوا

Upon their mouths, blissful is the taste of them

If they descend then the abundant rains early

قَومٌ إذا املَولَحَ الرِجالُ على

أفواهِ من ذاقَ طَعمَهُم عَذُبوا

And the lion, lion of the den, if they rode

They are neither entrusted at their turns

إن نَزَلُوا فالغُيُوثُ بَاكِرَةٌ

والأُسدُ أُسدُ العَرِينِ إن رَكِبُوا

Nor failing if they stumble

Tranquil, gentle in their homes

لاَ هُم مَفَارِيحُ عند نَوبَتِهم

ولا مَجَازِيعُ إِن هُمُ نُكِبُوا

The form of piety and the ascending virtues

And the pure exonerated from

هَينُونَ لَينُونَ في بِيُوتهم

سِنخُ التُّقى والفَضَائِلُ الرُتُبُ

Blemish and the begetters and the elite

And the safeguarded from faults and the head of heads

والطَّيِبُونَ المُبَرَّؤون من ال

آفَةِ والمُنجِبُونَ والنُجُبُ

If they erred

They do not take affairs out of ignorance

والسَّالِمُونَ المُطَهَّرُونَ من ال

عَيبِ ورأسُ الرُؤوسِ ال الذَنَبُ

Nor falsely claiming from where it is pulled

They take the best of what they contain

زُهرٌ أصِحَّاءُ لا حَدِيثُهم

واهٍ ولا في قَدِيمِهم عَطَبُ

When they gather in their palms they drank

And after a stumble it is not said of them

والعَأرِفو الحَقَّ للمُدّلِ به

والمُستَقِلّو كثيرِ ما وَهَبُوا

They spun excuses, rather they calculated

And the restrainers, the drawers near

والمُحرِزو السَّبقَ في مَوَاطِنَ لا نَج

عَلُ غاياتِ أهلِها القَصَبُ

Of the matter, and the people of fury if they raged

They do not venture affairs heedlessly

والكَاشِفُو المُفظِعِ المُهِمِّ إذا ال

تَفَّ بِتَصدِيرِ أهلِهَا الحَقَبُ

Nor lose a thing of what they extracted

If they ventured a matter, together they did

واستَثقَبَ الشَرُّ من مَقَادِحِه

وكانَ في ظَهرِ آلةٍ حَدَبُ

Or if they inserted, lucidly they conveyed when they neared

Their fountain in prosperity is moderate

وكان كالأروَقِ الأَكَسُّ من ال

نَّجدَةِ والكَربُ بَعدَهُ الكَرَبُ

Guarded by the sturdy, its sturdy thorns

Those overflowing with glory extracted

فَهُم هُنَاكَ الأُسَاةُ للدَّاءِ ذِي الرِ

ريبَةِ والرائِبُونَ ما شَعَبُوا

Their lances ahead of lances if they struck

They won it, not sharing, as

لا شُهَدٌ للخَنَا وَمَنطِقِه

ولا عنِ الحِلمِ والنُّهَى غَيَبُ

The elite of the spoils attained when they snatched hungrily

Since below it for the hopeful, the sinful ones

بَرُّون سَرُّون في خلائِقِهم

حِلفُ التُّقى والثَّناءُ والرَغَبُ

Those who covet it, the stupidity

It raised them in its strong twisted ascent

لَم يَأخُذوا الأمرَ مِن مَجَاهَلَةٍ

ولا انتِحَالاً من حَيثُ يُجتَلبُ

Manifesting power, not the hasty climbers

And they attained without it unattainables

خَيَارَ ما يَجتَوُن فيهِ إِذ ال

جَانُونَ في ذِي أكُفِّهم أَرِبُوا

Where the scope of the sprinters when they hastened greedily

O best of those the she-camel knelt for you

وَلَم يُقَل بَعدَ زَلَّةٍ لَهُمُ

كُرُّوا المَعَاذِيرَ إنما حَسِبُوا

You are the branches of the lush, not the withered

You are from war in its virtues

والوَازِعُونَ المُقرِبُونَ من ال

أمرِ وأهلُ الشِغَابِ أن شُغِبُوا

Where the millstone meets the pole

When after an elderly she-camel, a pleasing sight

لا يُصدِرُون الأُمُورَ مُبهَلَةً

ولا يُضِيعُون دَرَّ ما حَلَبُوا

Bald from it, the smooth and the clamor

Shorn headed, neither adorned by

إن أصدَرُوا الأمرَ أصدَرُوه مَعَاً

أَو أَورَدُوا أَبلَغُوُه ما قَرَبُوا

Beauty nor by shyness acting coy

And the kindlers came when the detainer

نَبعَتُهم في النُّضارِ وَاسِطَةٌ

أحرَزَها العِيصُ عِيصُها الأَشِبُ

Detained from it the departing and the fingertips

Two cauldrons, their fuel not sparked

أخرَجَ قِدحَيهم المُفيضُونَ للمَجدِ

أمَامَ القِداحِ إن ضَرَبُوا

Below the ashes erect

Neither by the two firebrands descending

فَازُوا بهِ لا مُشَارَكِينَ كَمَا

أحرَزَ صَفوَ النِّهَابِ مُنتَهِبُ

Nor by the flames kindling their oldness

Between the two not the torches of firebrands

إِذ دُونَه للمُرَشَّحِين ذوي ال

غُلَّةِ مِمَّن يَرُومُه لَغَبُ

Without their fire the shooting stars

And in the years, the abundant rains early

صَعَّدَهم في كَؤُودِهِ الرَبوَ تَو

هِينُ قُوَىً والسُّعَاةُ لا الوَثَبُ

When the wrist cannot hold when it tied forcefully

It lightened for the slanderers through

وأدرَكُوادُونَه أَحَاظِيَ في

حيثُ مَدَى الوابطينَ إِذ لَغَبُوا

Generosity in it the ending and the fresh herbage

Will my message reach you, the cheeky she-camel

يا خيرَ من ذَلَّتِ المَطِيُّ لهُ

أنتُم فُروعُ العِضَاهِ لا الشَّذَبُ

And the journey from me is habitual

Noisy, howling, let loose, bleating she-camels

أنتُم من الحَربَِ في كَرَائِمِها

بحيثُ يُلفَى من الرَحَى القُطُبُ

The white foxes split away from them

When the apparitions gather their destinations

إذا بَدَت بَعدَ كَاعِبٍ رَؤُدٍ

شَمطَاءَ منها اللِّحَاءُ والصَخَبُ

And the claim of visions was false

With a frown, postponing, deceiving

مَحلُوقَةَ الرأسِ لا تَجَرَّدُ بال

حُسنِ ولا بالحَياء تأتَتِبُ

An opinion, from what the burial contained

Not started by the hasty, nor

واحتَضَرَ المُوقِدُونَ إذ عَزَل ال

وَاغِلُ منها النِفَارُ والزَّبَبُ

Trod by the drivers and the vanguards

As if it were the active, the passionate

قِدرَينِ لم يَقتَدِح وَقُودَهما

بالمَرخِ تَحتَ العَفَارِ مُنتَصِبُ

Of strong built, from the wild of the white-haired

The dirty camels bellowed for it

لا بالجِعَالَينِ يُنزِلانِ ولا

بالشِّيحِ يُذكِي سَنَاهما اللَّهَبُ

With shouting, roaring, and the dusty

Its clothes the winter clad it

في إِرَتَي فَيلَقضينِ بَينَهُما

من غَيرِ نَارش القَوَابِسِ الشُّهُبُ

And the dust from its straps the dust

In the bosom of its howdah seeking refuge

وفي السِّنينَ الغُيُوثُ بَاكِرَةً

إذ لا يُدِرُّ العَصُوبَ مُعتَصِبُ

A guest its villages the fox and the lynx

That night of yours, that long night

أبرَقَ للمُسنِتِينَ عِندكُمُ

بالجَودِ فيها النِّهاءُ والعُشُبُ

As if relieving its knot the brambles

Until a brow of the sun appeared and

هَل تُبَلِّغَنِيكُم المُذَّكَرةُ الوَجنَاءُ

والسَّيرُ مني الدَأبُ

The eastern brow from it concealing

Then it went shaking off the ice

هَوجَاءُ كالفَحلِ هَوجَلٌ سُرُحٌ

تَنشَقُّ عَنها الهواجِرُ الذُّؤُبُ

As the debris fell from it, collecting wood

So hardship tested it in the strike of misfortune

إذا الإِكَامُ إكتَسَت مآلِيَها

وكان زَعمَ اللوامعِ الكَذِبُ

With vigor as if it were playing

So it walked in the horror of suddenness

بِمُضمَحِّلٍ مُؤَمِلٍ خَادِعٍ

لأَركُبٍ عَمَّا تَضَمَّنَ القِرَبُ

Bent in compassion and the heart selected

Then it calmed when the horror hatched

لَم يَقتَعِدها المُعَجِّلونَ ولم

يَمسَح مَطَاها الوُسُوقُ والقَتَبُ

So it brought out from it anger

So it repelled it with the death throe

كأنَّها النَّاشِطُ المُولَّعَ ذُو ال

عِينة من وحشِ لِينَةَ الشَّيَبُ

Of glimmering life, it bloodied its intestines and the graves

And attained from it the roasting, openings

هاجَت له الحَرجَفُ البَلِيلُ بِصُرَّ

ادٍ جَهَامٍ والحاصِبُ الحَصِبُ

Like the cleaver, or eroded its slippers the holes

So those not that, and it is in the inviolable

ثَوبَاه منه الصَّقِيعُ تَلحَفُه

والتُربُ من سَافِيَائِه التَرِبُ

Of the noble blood, in two inviolable ones who paled

Carrying their biers upon the bier

في كِنِّ أَرطَاتِه يَلُوذُ بِها

ضَيفاً قِرَاهُ السُّهضادُ والوَصَبُ

And the respite, from it the weak maidens

If it is said, they said, then above its luggage

لَيلَك ذا لَيلَك الطَّوِيلَ كَمَا

عالجَ تَبرِيحَ غُلِّهِ الشَّجِبُ

Or they celebrated, so are the containers and the waterskins

The shaken by it does not heal

حتى بَدَا حَاجِبٌ من الشَّمسِ وال

حَاجِبِ منها الشَّرقِّي مُحتَجِبُ

From the position, the humiliated from the strike of affliction the tendon

Unless five which are the settler with

ثُمَّ غَدَا يَنفُضُ الجَلِيدَ كَمَا

ساقَط عنه الهَشِيمَ مُحتَطِبُ

The riding beasts where the camels kneel

As if they were the hasteners to

فاستَلحَمَتهُ الضِرَاءُ في هَبوَةِ النّ

قعِ بِجِدٍّ كأنَّهُ اللَّعِبُ

The young, slackened, the headbands

They carry above the chests a vessel

فَجَالَ في رَوعَةِ الفًجَاءَةِ مُث

نَونَي عِطفٍ والقَلبُ مُنتَخَبُ

For others the sheaths and the ruins

The creators did not diminish its productivity

ثم ارعَوَى حين أفرَخَ الرَّوعُ فا

ستَخرَجَ منه الحَفِيظَةَ الغَضَبُ

Nor did the many that it produced decrease

To a twin as if it birthed the monkey

فَرَدَّها بالصَّرِيعِ ذي الرَّمَقِ ال

كَارِبِ يَدمَى حَشَاه والقُرُبُ

With white armpit for its mother the coarse hair

Neither did the feathers in their places

وَنَالَ منها الشَّوى نَوَافِذُ كال

خَاصِفِ أوهَى نِعَالَهُ النَقَبُ

Wound from it, nor by it did the cane revive

Taking from the spiny trees like

فَتِلكَ لا ذَاكَ وهي بالمُحرِمِ الشَّ

حِبِ في مُحرِمِينَ قد شَحَبُوا

A necklace from it the lote trees and truffles

Similar to the kalaa except their heads

تَحمِلُ كِيرَانَهم على الأَينِ وال

فَترَةِ منها الأَيانِقُ الشُّزُبُ

In them the poison and the slopes quiver

Neither thankful when they are rich

إن قِيلَ قِيلُوا فَفَوقَ أرحُلِها

أو عَرِّسُوا فالذَّمِيلُ والخَبَبُ

Nor in their poverty is harshness suspected

Those not these when the moment settled

لا يَتَدَاوَى بِنَزلَةٍ منهمُ ال

مُدنَفُ من هَيضَةِ الكَرَى الوَصِبُ

And the saddlebags were tightened and the waterskins

They penetrate with the riding beast hastily

الا لِخَمسٍ هي المُنِيخَةُ بال

أركُبِ حَيثُ تُتكَأُ الجُلَبُ

And are scolded without whips if they were blamed

Disheveled, worn clothes, the ground

كأنَّهُنَّ المُعَجِّلاتِ الى ال

أفرُخِ بالمُدلَهِمَّةش العُصَبُ

Rolled with them so are the hills then the mountains

It raised them once and lowered them

يَحمِلنَ فَوقَ الصُّدُورِ أسقِيَةً

لغَيرِهُنَّ العِصَامُ والخُرَبُ

When they floated above its implements they swam

To visitors in their visit

لم يَجشَمِ الخالِقاتُ فِريَتَها

ولم يَغِض مِن نِطَافِها السَرِبُ

Achieving piety and the dignity was complete

الى تَوأمٍ كأنَّها قَرَدَ العِهنِ

بِبَيدَاءَ لأُمِّها الزَّغَبُ

لم يَطعَنِ الرِّيشُ في مَطَاعنِهِ

مِنها ولم يَنتَعِش بها القًصَبُ

مُتَخِذَاتٍ من الخَراشِيِّ كال

حِليَةِ منها السُّمُوطُ والحُقُبُ

مِثلُ الكُلا غير أنَّ أرؤُسَها

تَهتَزُّ فيها السُّمُومُ والشُّعَبُ

لا شَاكِرَاتٍ اذا غَنِينَ ولا

في فَقرِهِنَّ الجَفَاءُ مُرتأَبُ

أولاكَ لا هؤلا اذا انتُحِضَ النَّ

يُّ وشُدَّ السِنَافُ واللَّبَبُ

يُوغِلنَ بالأركُبِ العِجَال وَيُع

تِبنَ بِدُونِ السِّياطِ ان عُتِبُوا

شُعثٌ مَدَاليجُ قد تَغَوَّلت ال

ارضُ بهم فالقِفَافُ فالكُثُبُ

تَرفَعهُم تارة وتَخفِضُهم

إذا طَفَوا فَوقَ آلِها رَسَبُوا

إلى مَزُوِرينَ في زِيارتِهم

نَيلُ التُّقَى واستُتِمَّتِ الحِسَبُ
