ابدأن لا لوَّ فيما قال ناعتها

من صنعة ضامت الولدان في الحلبِ

The milkmaids started singing, praising it

إذا الصبوح لهم أسآر ما تركت

بعد التعلج والتحساء في العُلَبِ

When the youth milk for them in the mornings

After rubbing and cleansing in the jugs

لا ينضح الصاربات الوَطْبُ من يُبس

لحالب قبل أن يروين مصطربِ

The udders do not ooze dry herbage

Before a confused milker can water them

لا يخدع الآل بالموماة أعينها

من شربهن عن الأشوار في القربِ

The cattle's eyes are not deceived by stroking

Those who drank from the water troughs nearby

حتى يصب لها فضل النطاف إذا

ما كدَّر الماحة الساقون ذا القُلُبِ

Until it pours for them the surplus of udders when

The carrier with the heart churned the frothing milk
