1. "أجارك الله؛ هذا الحلفُ والجارُ"

    عليكَ لا لك أعوانٌ وأنصار

    May God protect you; this oath and neighbor

    You have no helpers or supporters against you

  2. همْ حكَّموا فإذا التحكيمُ عندهمُ

    تحكّمٌ وإذا التخييرُ إجبار

    They arbitrated, and when arbitration is with them

    It is compulsion, and when there is choice, it is coercion

  3. قضيةٌ عجبٌ تُبكي وَتضحكُ سلْ

    عن خطبها (الوفدَ) واستشهدْ لها (غارو)

    A wondrous case that makes one laugh and cry, ask

    About its circumstances (the delegation) and cite as evidence for it (Garu)

  4. لا يستقيمُ قياسٌ في تناقضِها

    ولا يصحُّ عَلَى ما تمَّ معيار

    No reasoning is sound in its contradictions

    And no standard is correct in its measures

  5. الخصمُ يحكم والقاضي بها هملٌ

    والحقُ يُصرعُ والبهتانُ سوّار

    The opponent judges and the judge in it is negligent

    And truth is vanquished while falsehood is embellished

  6. إذا المحامي أعان الخصمَ في ترةٍ

    فليت شعريَ ممن يُدرك الثار

    When the lawyer assists the opponent in harm

    I wonder who will attain vengeance

  7. قلْ للحليفِ وخيرُ القولِ أصدقُه

    ما بال جيش توارى وَهو جرَار

    Tell the oath-taker, and the best words are the most truthful

    What ails an army that retreated while it is fierce?

  8. من بعد عشرين عاما بين أظهرنا

    لم يَحمِ ثغراً وَلم تُمنع به دار

    After twenty years between our shoulders

    It did not protect a frontier, nor did it defend a house

  9. عهدي به يستثير الطفلُ غضبَتَه

    ما باله اليومَ رحبُ الصدرِ صبَّار

    My covenant with it provokes the anger of an infant

    What is wrong with it today, being gentle and patient?

  10. أعيذه أن يقولوا عنه: جبّارُ

    عَلَى الضعيف وعند البأسِ خوّار

    I seek refuge for it lest they say about it: A tyrant

    Upon the weak, and in calamity, a coward

  11. يا لابسَ الثوبِ مزهوّاً بجدّتِه

    أُنظرْ فقد علقتْ في ذيلِه النارُ

    Oh you who wears a garment proudly because of its newness

    Look, for fire has caught onto its hem

  12. عساك تزعمُ أنَّ الأمرَ بُتَّ به

    "من دون عِلمِكَ؛ هل في ذاك إعذار؟ "

    Maybe you claim the matter was decreed without

    Your knowledge; is there any excuse in that?

  13. يقضى عَلَى حقِنا بغياً وَليس لنا

    علمٌ، لعمرك هذا الهُوْنُ والعار

    It rules against our right unjustly while we have

    No knowledge - by your life, this submissiveness and disgrace!

  14. ويلُ الضعيفِ وأُفٍّ للقوي إذا

    لم يبق للعدلِ إيرادٌ وإصدار

    Woe to the weak, and shame on the strong when

    There is no recourse left for justice, no issuance or decree

  15. إذا الممالكُ لم ترفعْ قواعدُها

    على الأسنةِ فالبنيانُ منهار

    When kingdoms do not establish its foundations

    Upon tongues, then the structure will collapse

  16. قالوا (الجزيرة) لا ترضى بحكمكمُ

    ما في (الجزيرة) إلا النفطُ والقار

    They said (Al-Jazeera) does not accept your rule

    There is nothing in (Al-Jazeera) but oil and tar

  17. ديارُ (عمرو بن كلثومٍ) يعيثُ بها

    بهزلِ دهركِ إسكافٌ وخمّار

    The dwellings of (Amr bin Kulthum) which

    Your fate's jest fills with drunkenness and dissipation

  18. من لاجئٍ وَدخيلٍ وابن سابلةٍ

    في ظهرِه من سياطِ (الترك) آثار

    Of refugees, newcomers, and sons of Sabila

    On their backs are lashes from (the Turks)

  19. (طيّ) و (تغلب) هل نامتْ فوارسُها

    فَصال يُرهجُ في الميدانِ حمّار؟

    (Tayy) and (Taghlib), did their horsemen sleep

    So that a donkey brays in the battle?

  20. روايةٌ سمجةٌ، صوتُ الملقن من

    وراءَ قترته كالرعد هدّار

    A vulgar story, the prompter's voice from

    Behind his screen like thunder, rattling

  21. بني (العروبة) كم من صحيةٍ ذهبتْ

    لَوْ يُستثارُ بها الموتى إِذنْ ثاروا

    O children of (Arabness), how many war cries have passed

    That if the dead were awakened by them, they would rise

  22. إنَّ الحوادثَ لو أدركتمُ عبرٌ

    فأين لا أين ألبابُ وأبصار؟

    If you understood the lessons of events

    Where, oh where are the minds and insights?

  23. الرحمُ واشجةٌ والدارُ جامعةٌ

    فَلمْ تقطَّع أرحامٌ وأقطار؟

    Wombs are related, and the house gathers

    So why are wombs severed and homelands torn apart?

  24. هنتمْ عَلَى كلِّ شعبٍ من تخاذِلكمْ

    شأنَ العبيدِ وباقي الناس أحرار

    They reproach you for the state of every people from your negligence

    The status of slaves while the rest of people are free

  25. لم تغن كثرتُكم عنكم كأنكمُ

    على المزيد ولا أرقام أصفار...

    Your great number does not avail you, as if you are

    More yet amount to nothing, O zeros...

  26. تُخرِّبون بأيديكم بيوتكمُ

    جهلاً أكلُّكُمُ يا (عربُ) أغمار

    You destroy your homes with your own hands

    Ignorantly, all of you, O Arabs, are immersed in darkness

  27. يا ليت شعريَ ماذا يستفزكمُ؟

    حمىً مباحٌ وإذلالٌ وإفقار

    I wonder what provokes you?

    Permissible zeal, humiliation and impoverishment

  28. أرى الحجارةَ أحمى من أُنوفِكمُ

    كم أرسلتْ شرراً بالقدحِ أحجار

    I see stones more zealous than your noses

    How often have sparks sent by flint ignited flames?

  29. إخوانُكم في (فلسطين) تنالهمُ

    بالسوءِ والعسفِ أنيابٌ وأظفار

    Your brethren in (Palestine) are afflicted

    By evil and aggression, fangs and claws

  30. (مهد المسيح) و (معراج النبي) و (أو

    لى القبلتين) بها لم يأمنِ الجار

    (Cradle of Christ) and (Ascent of the Prophet) and (First of the

    Two Qiblas) - in it neither neighbor was safe

  31. كم ريع سربٌ بها بَغْياً وكَمْ هُتِكتُ

    من حرمةِ (الحرمِ القدسيِّ) أستار

    How often a caravan was ambushed unjustly, and how many

    Of the sanctities of (the Noble Sanctuary) were violated

  32. أين السوابقُ للجلى إذا نزلتْ

    إنَّ الحوازبَ والأحداث مضمار

    Where are the precedents of glory when

    Strife and events descend? Verily parties and events are an arena
