عاد الذي أفعاله سنن

مأثورة وخلاله غرر

Returned is he whose deeds are traditions

Well-known and his qualities precious pearls

ألحازم العف الذي يده

ولسانه وجنانه طهر

The decisive, pure one whose hand

And tongue and soul are pure

زين الأماثل صدر ندوتهم

وأجل من يعلو به خطر

Adornment of the best of assemblies

And greatest over whom danger rises

أهدى السراة عزيمة ونهى

ذو الشيمتين القادر الخفر

Guider of travelers, determination and forbidding

The Lord of two noble traits and protector

مجد يبز به الملوك بلا

كبر ونفس كلها كبر

Glory which makes kings shine without

Arrogance and a soul filled with grandeur

رأي يصيب من الحقائق ما

يخفى ويخطيء دونه النظر

An opinion that perceives truths

Hidden and which sights cannot perceive

أدب تعز به الملوك إلى

لفظ تتيه بمثله الدرر

Refinement which makes kings incline

To words that scatter pearls

هذا هو العلم الذي زهيت

مصر به وتباهت السير

This is the knowledge with which Egypt shines

And journeys take pride in
