زَيْدَانُ قَدْ آنَسْتَنِي مِنْ وَحْشَةٍ

زَيْدَانُ قَدْ آنَسْتَنِي مِنْ وَحْشَةٍ

مَا كَانَ أَشْوَقَنِي إِلَى زَيْدَانِ

مَا كَانَ أَشْوَقَنِي إِلَى زَيْدَانِ

Zaydan, you have truly eased my loneliness;

how deeply I had longed for Zaydan,

وَإِلَى السُّوَيْعَاتُ الَّتِي ذُقْنَا بِهَا

وَإِلَى السُّوَيْعَاتُ الَّتِي ذُقْنَا بِهَا

طِيبَ الحَيَاةِ وَنَحْنُ فِي لُبْنَانِ

طِيبَ الحَيَاةِ وَنَحْنُ فِي لُبْنَانِ

and for those precious little hours in which we tasted

the sweetness of life while we were in Lebanon.

تَشْدُو فَتُطْرِبُ مَجْلِساً لأُولِي النُّهَى

تَشْدُو فَتُطْرِبُ مَجْلِساً لأُولِي النُّهَى

جَمَعَ العُلَى فِي مُلْتَقَى إِخْوَانِ

جَمَعَ العُلَى فِي مُلْتَقَى إِخْوَانِ

You sing, delighting an assembly of discerning minds,

brought together by al-ʿAlawi at a gathering of brethren.
