تَحْتَ قُدْسِ الأَقْدَاسِ نَمْ بِسَلامٍ
خَالِداً بِالذِّكْرَى عَلَى الأَيَّامِ
Beneath the holy of holies we slept in peace
Immortalized in memory for all time
كَامِلُ الخُطْوَتَيْنِ دِيناً وَدُنْيَا
بَالِغاً مِنْهُمَا أجَلَّ مُرَامِ
Perfect in both faith and worldly affairs
Attaining the highest of goals in both
كُنْتَ أَوْلَى الأَنَامِ حَيّاً وَمَيْتاً
أَنْ تَكُونَ الحَظِيظَ بَيْنَ الأَنَامِ
You were the most deserving of all people, in life and death
To be the most revered among all people
ذَلِكَ الشَّأْنُ وَهْوَ أَرْفَعُ شَأْنٍ
أَثَرَ الجَدِّ وَالمَسَاعِي الجِسَامِ
Such is your distinction, the highest distinction
Legacy of ancestry and monumental deeds
شَرَفاً يَا أَمِيرُ لَمْ يَكُ عَفْواً
مَا تَبَوَّأْتَ مِنْ رَفِيعِ المَقَامِ
An honor, O Prince, that was no mere kindness
That you assumed from the loftiest positions
أَكْرَمْتَكَ المُلُوكُ وَاخْتَصَّكَ اليَو
مَ مَلِيكُ المُلُوكِ بِالإِكْرَامِ
The kings honored you and the days
Singled you out for favor, O Prince of Princes
كُلَّمَا جَدَّدَ الفِدَى جَدَّدْتَ فِيهِ
حَيَاةً لِبَالِيَاتِ العِظَامِ
Whenever the ransom was renewed, you renewed
Life for the towering pillars gone by
بَيْنَ عَهْدٍ مَضَى وَعَهْدٍ تَلاهُ
صِلَةٌ أَوْثِقَتْ لِغَيْرِ انْفِصَامِ
Between one era now past and another after it
A bond tighter than any unbreakable bond
وَلِقَاءٌ بَيْنَ الشَّهَادَةِ وَالغَيْـ
ـبِ قَرِيبٌ عَلَى المَدَى المُتَرَامِي
And a meeting between martyrdom and absence
Draws near across the vast expanse
تَأْنَسُ النَّفْسُ فِيهِ بِالنَّفْسِ فِي
مَنْزِلَةٍ مِنْ مَنَازِلِ الإِلْهَامِ
The soul finds intimacy with the soul
In a station of divine inspiration
وَكَأَنَّ الزَّمَانَ يَثْبَتُ فِيهِ
مِنْ كُرَورِ الشُّهُورِ وَالأَعْوَامِ
As if time itself stops in it
Beyond the passing months and years
أَتُرَى اليَوْمَ يَا حَبِيبُ أُوْلَى
الأَخْطَارِ مِنْ كُلِّ مِلَّةٍ فِي زِحَامِ
Do you see today, O beloved
The dearest of perils among every faith in the throngs
أَقْبَلُوا وَالأَسَى عَلَيْكَ جَدِيدٌ
لِجَدِيدٍ مِنْ وَاجِبِ الأَعْطَامِ
They came while new sorrow is upon you
For the renewal of an obligatory ritual
وَبَنُوكَ الكِرَامُ وَاسِطَةٌ فِي
ذَلِكَ العِقْدِ مِنْ وُفُودٍ كِرَامِ
And your noble sons intercede in
This pact among the caravans of nobles
قَدْ أَنَافُوا كَمَا أَنِفتَ قَدِيماً
حِينَ تَنْدُو عَلَى أَعَالِي الهَامِ
They refused just as you refused long ago
When you called out from the highest places
كُلُّهُمْ مُشْبَهٌ أَبَاهُ وَكُلٌّ
هُوَ لَوْلا تَعَدُّدِ الأَجْسَامِ
All resemble their father, though each
Is singular but for multiplicity of forms
كَانَ بِالأَمْسِ صُورَةً فَتَرَاءتْ
فِي ثَلاثٍ رُوحُ الأَمِيرِ المُهَامِ
Yesterday, a portrait became visible
In three, the spirit of the magnificent prince
وَجَلا النُّبْلُ بَعْدَ وَجْهٍ وُجُوهاً
لِلنَّدَى وَالإِبَاءِ وَالإِقْدَامِ
And nobility shone faces after a face
For dew, dignity, and resolve
مَا طَوَى اللَّحْدُ عِزَّةً تَتَجَلَّى
مِنْ بَنِيهِ فِي أَرْفَعِ الأَعْلامِ
The grave has not ended the glory seen
In his sons under the highest banners
لا وَلَمْ تَفْقُدِ الحَمِيَّةُ وَالأَشْبَالُ
فِي الغِيلِ صَوْلَةُ الضَّرْغَامِ
No, nor has ardor been lost to the cubs
In the forest, the boldness of the young lions
شِيَمٌ حِينَ صُوِّرَتْ مِنْ نُضَارِ
الحَزْمِ وَالعَزْمِ صُوِّرَتْ لِدَوَامِ
A trait depicted from the vitality
Of wisdom and determination, made to last
يَا ضَرِيحاً أَوَى إِلَيْهِ حَبِيبٌ
تَحْتَ ضَوْءِ الذَّبِيحَةِ البَسَّامِ
O tomb that hosted a beloved
Beneath the light of the sacrifice
أَيُّ شَمْسٍ لِعَيْنِهِ تَتَجَلَّى
فِي حَوَاشيكَ مِنْ وَرضاءِ الظَّلامِ
What sun is made visible to his eyes
In the margins around you, from the pleasure of darkness
بَاتَ فِي مَنْبِعِ الخُلُودِ وَإِنْ
كَانَ سَبِيلُ الخُلُودِ وَرْدَ الحِمَامِ
He slept in the wellspring of eternity, though
The path to eternity is the course of doves
يَتَمَلَّى النُّعْمَى تُشَارِكُهُ فِيـ
ـهَا الَّتِي شَارَكَتْهُ فِي الآلامِ
Good fortune joins him there
That joined him in sorrows
زَوْجُهُ البِرَّةُ الَّتِي أَوْفَتِ العَـ
ـهْدِ بِصُدْقِ الهَوَى وَرَعْيِ الذِّمَامِ
His righteous wife who kept her vow
With loyalty of passion and sheltering bond
وَقضَتْ عُمْرَهَا إِلَى أَنْ أَجَابَتْ
دَعْوَةَ اللهِ وَهْيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ ذَامِ
And spent her life until she answered
The call of God without blame
خَيْرُ أُمٍّ لَوُلْدِهَا وَرَؤُومٌ
بَعْدَهُمْ لِلضِّعَافِ وَالأَيْتَامِ
The best mother to her children and compassionate
To the weak and orphans after them
لَمْ يَعُزِّ التَّمَامِ عَنْهَا سِوَى
أَنَّ الَّتِي أَنْجَبَتْ مِثَالَ التَّمَامِ
Nothing soured her perfection except
That she who gave birth to the epitome of perfection
لَيْسَ فِي أَنْبَلِ النِّسَاءِ لِهِيلا
نَةَ شَيْهٌ فِي كُلِّ مَعْنىً سَامِ
Of the noblest women, none resembles Halana
In any sence or meaning pure
أَيُّهَا النَّاحِيَانِ مِنْ عَنَتِ الدَّهْـ
ـرِ وَمِنْ شَرِّهِ العَمِيمِ الطَّامِي
O two overlookers, from the stubbornness of time
And from its every spreading harm
هَيْكَلُ اللهِ مِنْهُ حِرْزٌ حَرِيزٌ
فَاسْتَقِرَّا فِي غِبْطَةٍ وَجَمَامِ
God's temple protects them like an unassailable fortress
Take rest there in delight and beauty
