    and a lesson—what a splendid feast Nayrouz is!

  2. Learn that a people who held fast to piety

    have with God a reward that shall not be denied.

  3. They are saved, however much they suffer for what they believe,

    from persecution, humiliation, and banishment.

  4. Your forefathers proved to all mankind that they

    showed the mettle of mighty, indomitable heroes.

  5. They bequeathed you pride in your descent

    from those radiant, illustrious ones.

  6. They spoke—and their deeds bear out what they said: there is no...

    ...place in life for weakling cowards.

  7. The mark of gratitude is that you discharge their claims

    upon you, their sons—with reverence and glorification—

  8. and that throughout the days you show them that you

    through filial devotion have immortalized them most nobly.

  9. The Patriarch, Father of the prelates—his countenance

    is seen each day within this house.

  10. He appears, while the Tawfiq Society spreads

    before him signs of improvement and renewal.

  11. Through his blessing, it strives and attains its aims

    with consummate facilitation and preparation.

  12. Its president is a virtuous exemplar to the people

    in resolve, determination, boldness, and generosity.

  13. His companions and noble helpers have built

    for learning the worthiest edifice, firmly founded—

  14. an edifice counted among Egypt’s finest growth,

    yielding sweet fruit from verdant shoots.

  15. May God bless the keeper of these plantings, and

    those plantings, for an age without end.

  16. And long live Farouk of the Nile Valley, ever ascending

    to the summits of glory, in might and support.
