ولَيْلَةٍ رَائِقَةِ الْبَهَاءِ

مَشُوبَةِ الظَّلاَمِ بِالضِّياءِ

And a night of radiant splendor

Tinged with darkness and bright light

أَشْبَهَ بِالجَارِيَةِ الْغَرَّاءِ

فِي حُلَّةٍ شَفَّافَةٍ سَوْدَاءِ

Resembling a blonde maid

In a diaphanous black dress

بَادِ جَمَالُهَا عَلَى الْخَفَاءِ

سَكْرَى مِنَ النَّسيمِ وَالأَنَّدَاءِ

Whose beauty is subtly revealed

Intoxicated by the breeze and calling

جَرَتِ الْفُلكُ عَلَى الدَّأْمَاءِ

خَافِقَةَ الْفُؤَادِ بِالرَّجَاءِ

The ships sailed on the inky sea

With hearts throbbing with hope

خَفِيفَةً كالظِّل فِي الإِسْرَاءِ

تُبْدِي افْتِرَاراً فِي ثُغُورِ المَاءِ

Light as a shadow in the night journey

Showing playfulness on the lips of the water

كَأَنَّما طَرِيقُهَا مَرَائِي

وَالشُّهبُ فِيهَا أَعْيُنٌ رَوَائِي

As if her path were visible

And the stars were watchful eyes

بِمَشْهَدٍ مِنْ عَالَمِ الأَضْوَاءِ

في مُتَرَاءَي البَحرِ وَالسّمَاء

In a scene of the world of lights

Where the sea and sky meet

يحمِلُهَا المَوجُ عَلَى الوَلاءِ

وَالرِّيحُ تَحْدُوهَا بِلاَ حُدَاءِ

The waves carry her with devotion

And the wind urges her on unrestrained

كَأَنَّما الأَسْمَاعُ فِي الأَحْشَاءِ

وَالدَّهْرُ فِي سَكِينةِ الإصْغَاءِ

As if the ears were in ecstasy

And time was listening intently

يَا مِصْرُ دَارَ السَّعدِ وَالهَنَاءِ

وَمَهْبَطَ الأَسْرَارِ وَالإِيحَاءِ

Oh Egypt, home of fortune and bliss

And haven of mysteries and inspiration

عَلَيْكِ مِنْ هَذَا الْمُحِبِّ النَّائِي

سَلاَمُ قَلْبٍ ثَابِتِ الْوَلاَءِ

From this distant admirer

Come the greetings of a loyal heart

يَهْوَاكِ فِي السَّرَّاءِ وَالضَّرِّاءِ

That loves you in good times and bad
