    Lebanon, your skies remain still

A refuge for the twinkling stars after the twinkle

O ancient cedar grove and a shelter

When rangers guard every ferocious beast I hunt

This is a greeting to you from a passionate one

Who has willingly distanced himself from you though remote

From a thirsty one nearing death while your water is near

Pilgrims have passed by him but he did not stop for a drink

Nothing in deprivation is more bitterly painful

Than withholding affection from one accustomed to it

O resting place for my head on your slopes

My burning longing is an ember that has not died out

How many times awake or asleep have I seen you

And roamed through you in thought

In everything of yours my eyes shine

Beauty - and the beauty of the meadow is the beauty of eternity

And in every twist and turn

There is a trace felt by my wandering thoughts
