When France adorns you with her medal
Take pride, O Egyptian versed in her tongue!
Yet how take pride in the emphatic Dād by knowledge
Whose growth made supreme her expression?
Could aught but knowledge, its fosterling,
Restore her place among tongues?
Her Lord saved her at first and last
With mighty, protecting victory,
Anciently by Tā-Hā who revelation magnified,
Modernly by Tā-Hā whom science magnified.
