هَنِيئاً أَيُّهَا العَلَمُ المُفَدَّى

مَكَانُكَ فَوْقَ أًمْكِنَةِ النجُومِ

O honored flag, redeemed

Your place is above the stars' dwelling

وَهَذَا الحَشْدُ حَوْلَكَ مِنْ سُرَاةٍ

كَغَالِي الدُّرِّ فِي العِقْدِ النَّظِيمِ

And these crowds around you

Are like precious pearls in a precious necklace

إِذَا أُكْرِمْتَ فَالإِكْرَامُ حَقٌّ

لَهَتيكِ الفَضَائِل وَالعُلُومِ

When you are honored, honor is a right

For your virtues and knowledge

وَذَاكَ العَدْلُ يَحْمِي كُلَّ حُرٍّ

وَيَأْخُذُ لِلْبَرِيءِ مِنَ الأَثِيمِ

And that justice protects every freeman

And takes the innocent's side against the sinner

وَذَاكَ اللُّطْفُ تَبْذَلُهُ وَفِيهِ

إساً لِجِرَاحِهِ العِزّ الكَلِيمِ

And that kindness you give to heal

The wounds of the mighty and forbearing

وَذَاكَ الجَوْدُ يُرْخِصُ كُلَّ غالٍ

كَأَنَّ الدُّرَّ مِنْ دُرِّ الغُيومِ

And that generosity makes everything expensive cheap

As if pearls were made of cloud pearls

أَلا يَا سَيِّداً يُسْتَامُ مِنْهُ

وَسِيمُ الطَّبْعِ فِي الوَجْهِ الوَسِيمِ

Oh master, sought from him

The handsome-faced handsome-natured one

وَآمِنَةٌ لَهُ جِدُّ المُرَبِّي

وَآوِنَةٌ مَفَاكِهَةِ النَّدِيمِ

Secure for him is the supervision of the tutor

And the fruits are ripe for the boon companion

رَعَاكَ اللهُ مِنْ رَاعِي نُفُوسٍ

بِإِحْسَانٍ وَمَنْ هَادِي حُلُومِ

May God guard you from the guardian of souls

With benevolence and the guide of the meek

فَكَمْ قَوَّمْتَ مِنْ أَوْدِ السَّجَايَا

بِرَأْيٍ مِنْكَ مُسْتَدٍّ قَوِيمِ

How much you have corrected from the bending of proclivities

With sound opinion, straight and strong

وَكَمْ أَحْكَمْتَ مِنْ سَفْهٍ بِرُشْدٍ

كَذَاكَ حَصَافَةُ الراعِي الحَكِيمِ

And how much foolishness you have wisely settled

Such is the purity of the wise shepherd

وَسِرْتَ مِلَّةً بِأَبٍ رَعَاهَا

رِعَايَةَ عَادِلٍ حَدْبٍ رَحِيمِ

And you followed a faith led by a father who cared for it

With the care of a just, affectionate, forbearing one

أَتَمَّ لَهَا بِبِرٍّ ابْنُ وَفَّى

أَعَزَّ مَطَامِعِ الأُمِّ الرَؤُومِ

A son fulfilled it with righteousness

He fortified the hopes of the sorrowful mother

سَلامٌ يَا مُقَدَّمَ كُلِّ حِبْرٍ

بِهَا وَمُتَمِمَّ الخُلقِ الكَرِيمِ

Greetings O foremost of every ink

By which and perfecter of noble manners

إِلَيْكَ فَرِيقُهَا فِي مِصْرَ وَافَى

يُهَنِيءُ بِالسَّلامَةِ فِي القُدُومِ

To you its delegation in Egypt has come

Congratulating on the safe arrival

ويُبْدِي مَا بِهِ إِبْدَاءَ صِدْقٍ

مِنَ الإِجْلالِ لِلْمَوْلَى العَظِيمِ

And showing what it shows sincerely

Of veneration for the Almighty Master

فَعِشْ وَاسْلَمْ وَدُمْ دَهْراً مَدِيداً

سَعِيدَ الجِدِّ فِي عِزٍّ مُقِيمِ

So live and be well and last for ages

Happy, mighty, firmly established
